Chapter 942 The Perfect Change (Part Two)
Cherry's voice echoed in the room engulfing everyone in her love, concern and warmth. She continued,
"Violet and you have known each other for a long time. I know your love is true and pure. Take very
good care of what you have between the two of you. I trust you both to handle the future maturely, to
respect, cherish and love each other dearly."
"Thank you Mom. We'll try everyday," said Violet.
"Brilliant!" said Cherry. She then took a deep breath and smiled, "So then let us have a drink to
celebrate this reunion."
"Cheers!" said Derek and stood up.
Others followed suit.
It was a beautiful scene, as the sweet wine flowed, glasses clinked and laughter ensued.
Together, the family and friends enjoyed an evening full of smiles and happiness, chatting all along and
making merry memories.
After dinner, Derek and Amy went home.
Alice quickly whisked Violet away, "Violet, let us go to your room. I need to tell you something important
in private."
At the same time, Jackson walked to Greg and said to him, "Greg, come with me. I want to ask you
something."
Greg looked confused but agreed, nevertheless. "Alright, let's head to the study then?"
As everyone dispersed, Cherry saw the retreating figures of Greg and Jackson going upstairs and she
thought to herself, 'Hmmph...well it seems everyone has some or other business but me!'
Just then, Lily walked in with a plate of fresh, juicy fruits, cut just right. She placed the plate onto the
table and said, "Lawrence will be with you shortly, my lady. He has gone to see Mr. Derek off."
Cherry smiled at Lily's concern and said, "Yes of course. You know what, I think I'l go upstairs to the
second floor. I'll be resting there for a bit. If Lawrence comes, send him up to me, will you?"
"Of course," replied Lily.
In the study, Jackson sat opposite Greg.
"What is it Dad? What do you want to tell me?" Greg asked with genuine curiosity. However, a part of
him knew what Jackson wanted to say to him.
Jackson looked at him, intently. "Well you already know what I'm going to say to you, don't you? You
know that Violet is my only and dearest daughter. Parents should not have favourites, but I guess I love
her more than I love Lawrence!"
Greg was now looking directly into Jackson's eyes. He responded, "I know Dad. I'm sorry about what
happened. My intention was never to hurt Violet. I know I did that, I did not make her feel safe and
happy, like she deserves to be. I'll take better care of her now."
Jackson sighed softly, "You know, Greg, I was angry initially. Very angry, that you wronged my daughter
like this. But I did not react. Because when I heard that Lawrence was back in town, I knew he would
handle it. I had to do nothing in this matter, as Lawrence would definitely take care of it."
"I know," said Greg.
Jackson mulled over the past, as if transported back all those years to when Violet was still so little.
"You know Greg, Lawrence still blames himself for what happened to her on that day. He always holds
himself responsible. He loves Violet a lot and will let no harm befall her ever."
Jackson paused to look into the earnest eyes of the young gentleman sitting before him. Greg had a
unique genuineness about himself. "I really want to thank you, my son. Had it not been for you, we
could have never gotten our old Violet back. You made her how she was before the accident."
Greg smiled, "Dad, you know you don't have to thank me. I decided to be a doctor because I wanted to
help Violet. She is the purpose of my career choices even!"
Jackson heard Greg and was immediately satisfied. He looked outside the window, the dark sky shone
with a million sparkly stars, all flickering happily. It was as if they reciprocated his own happiness. He
became pensive, "Despite a lot of mishaps that should not have happened, here we are. Violet is okay
again and that is all that matters."
Greg nodded silently, on a trip of his own thoughts now.
"Greg, what are your future plans? What are you heading towards? Like, in your life with Violet,"
Jackson asked matter-of-factly.
Greg paused a little and gathered his words. He spoke out of sincerity, "Dad, I love Violet more than
anything else. I will ensure her happiness at all costs. I have lost her once but I do not wish to lose her
again ever."
Greg's words were genuine and his intentions were pure. He meant every word he had said and that
put Jackson at ease. He knew that Greg was a man of his words and if he had said that Violet would be
looked after, he knew Greg would do so.
......
Meanwhile, in Violet's room, the two girls sat side by side on her bed, just like they did in old days.
They chatted and whispered their secrets to each other, giggling occasionally.
Alice suddenly broke into a smile, "Violet! What a brilliant job you did in humiliating Melisa. You should
have seen her face after you left. Like the color had drained off her face. She looked pale and sad. And
Greg! Oh my god, I could not take my eyes off him because he just kept gazing at you. Good work
keeping him so attached to you!"
"Well that is how I roll, don't I! I know he will always have eyes just for me. I trust my charisma to work."
Violet was very blunt, "Dare he look at other women, I will never let that happen. Greg will always only
look at me!"
"Wow, Violet, you have changed so much. What has made you so tough now?" Alice gazed at her best
friend and realised how far they had come. Violet had grown into a smart, mature and beautiful young
woman with her head right above her shoulders. She had no unruly demands.
Violet said to her genuinely, "Alice, you know in the past, I want to live quietly. I didn't want to be
famous. I didn't want to show up in the public. But now those thoughts are gone. What I have learned,
who I have met and what I have seen in Hong Kong totally changed me. Only by bettering yourself can

from injustice. That's how you build your confidence and that's the best attitude of life."
