Chapter 35
Sofia Andrew
Since Angel spent the night in my apartment, I haven't heard from him. Mary called me and told me that Angel and Dad talked for a while while playing chess. And I thought the company was their main topic. "You look worried," Amelia said, and I didn't realize that she had arrived at my office.
"About many things these days, really. Tell me, do you have something about Elisa?"
Amelia gave me a blank look. "Sofia, I just started doing that. Please be kind and give me some time."
"I have no time, Amelia. I feel like every minute that passes, she's the one winning," I said in desperation.
"I know, but remember that we are trying to find out things from five years ago, Sofia."
"This upsets me because I want to clear my name. I want Angel to realize what kind of girlfriend she is."
"Some people are born with good hearts, while others were born with rotten hearts," Amelia said with a shrug.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Angel went to our house yesterday to probably talk about Autos-Let. Dad was worried because he thought that Angel would do something to the company."
"I think it won't affect his own profit, and it won't affect you either."
My phone rang, and I saw Alexis's name. "Who's calling that you look like you've stepped on a poo?"
"Oh, I did. It's another one with a rotten hearer named Alexis."
"Is he still forcing you to sleep with him because of Angel?" She asked, clearly pissed.
"I need something I can use to avoid him."
"I have something. Isaac received information yesterday, and he confirmed it first this morning. I am wondering if he should come to give it to you." "Did he tell you what it's about?" I asked, and she shook her head.
"He just said that if it's true, then you have the upper hand."
"That means it must be food. Well, I'll just wait for it because I have no other choice anyway. Anyway, do you remember that girl who's always with Elisa?"
"Of course. The one she spent most of her time with and who shared the same brain as her. They are the perfect example of rich girls with no brains."
I couldn't help but chuckle at her comment. "That's the one. I was thinking, why don't we look for her? She must know all her secrets or at least know something." "That isn't a bad idea. I remember that her name was Peyton. She graduated in accounting. Imagine a bird brain like her doing math," Amelia said in amusement. "She can be our wild card to destroy Elisa. The last thing I heard from them is they had a feud, but I wasn't sure if it's correct."
"Where do we find her? And we need to know if she'll even talk to us."
"She will if she knows what's good for her."
There was a knock before Isaac entered. "Hello, beautiful ladies!" He greeted us, and Amelia and I were shocked.
"Isaac, what are you doing here?" I asked in surprise. "If anyone sees you in this company, they could conclude things." I hissed at him.
"Okay, calm down, girls. First off, Sara knows me. Second, no one knows that I am the 'owner' of Let-tech, and if anyone asks, I'll just tell them that I'm here for my girlfriend." He said sweetly and kissed Amelia, making me laugh.
"I still can't believe what I'm seeing, but I am happy for you two. Really," I told them with a smile while looking at them.
"Thank you. It still feels surreal to me, but this is reality," Isaac said with a smile before he turned serious. "So, this is what I came for; let me borrow your computer, boss." He turned it to him without waiting for my answer. "Okay, ladies, this will be an unpleasant sight for you two, but it needs to be done."
He opened a folder and played one video where a young woman was tied, and she's almost naked.
"Love, we are not here to watch p**n, especially in this office." Amelia reprimanded her lover.
"Wait, is that...?" I trailed off and saw Alexis the pervert.
We saw how the woman started crying, and she screamed when the pig forcefully removed her clothing.
"Please, no! Mr. Alexis, this isn't right! Let me go!"
I immediately paused the video, feeling sick to my stomach. "Tell me he didn't succeed in violating that woman," I begged him while shaking in anger and disgust. "That son of a " Amelia exclaimed, her hands fisted. "He deserves to die painfully!"
And that is not the only thing I have. There's more. Some women are obviously drugged, and some are unconscious. Some of them asked for help, but... you know."
My heart dropped and my stomach churned in disgust while Amelia looked like she was ready to kill someone.
"Tell me, we're not talking about the fact that they have been raped.
"That man is the worst!" I exclaimed in anger. "Where are they now?"
"Fighting their traumas because that piece of scum has made it impossible for them to get the justice they deserve."
"That is the reason I'm here, and there is no greater influence than what the Andrews have, right?" Amelia said, and I could see her eyes burning.
"We will make sure he'll be behind bars, and we'll get the justice they deserve, although they won't ever forget what that waste of space did to them."
"And to think that you could have been added to the list if it weren't for Angel. Isaac, we need to talk to the victims to convince them to give their statements. I'm going to make that bastard regret being born." After she said that, Amelia stormed out of the office.
"I haven't seen her this angry," Isaac commented with awe in her eyes.
"You touched on a sensitive topic for her. She absolutely loathes that kind of case. After all, she's a crime lawyer who likes putting men like Alexis behind bars."
I fixed my things, and we followed Amelia.
We spent almost the whole day talking to the victims and hearing their stories. Just thinking about what they went through makes me want to kill that rapist. We convinced some, but the majority of them refused to talk because of their trauma. Amelia reached out to her friends to help her file the case, and we're just waiting for the process of gathering the evidence to make that man pay.
"I want to see that man's face when the cops arrest him," I told them with all the authority I have in me.
My phone rang, and just like I summoned the devil, I saw his name, and I answered it.
I didn't open my mouth when he talked. "I knew you'd ignore me, and now I am hoping for an answer."
"And you will get it. Do we meet at your office?" Amelia shook her head and mouthed that it had to be in a public place.
"No, it's better if we meet in my house." He replied in a deep voice that made my skin crawl, and I had the urge to vomit.
"That isn't possible. If you want my answer, it's better if we meet in your office." I looked at Amelia, and she sighed in resignation.
"Okay. Let's meet in my office later at six. Don't you dare not show up because I'm one step closer to putting your husband behind bars?"
You're the one who will be stroking the bars soon, a*****e. I said it in my head as I ended the call.
"I'm going to vomit. Are you sure they'll arrest him now? Isaac, I want it to be leaked in all the national and international media so that he will be so humiliated that even his mother wants to see it."
"And that's what will happen, but I'll go with you. I can't risk it if he tries to harm you."
"Leave the legal process to me, and then we'll arrest him. Please take care of yourself, Sofia," Amelia told me in concern.
"Do not take too long, and Isaac has my back," I assured her and winked at her.
We planned everything and left the company at five for the pervert's company while we waited for the release order. When we arrived, they had a strict order to let me in, but they forbade Isaac from entering. "Sofia, you won't go there alone, and I don't care what you say," Isaac said firmly.
"Amelia is coming. You wait here, Isaac; I can handle the idiot."
"No, I won't let you go. We don't know what could happen while you're in there."
I know I'm not a coward, but I am not that reckless either, and Isaac right.
I turned to Alexis's guard. "Tell your boss that I won't go up without my bodyguard."
I waited a minute as he talked to his walkie-talkie. "The boss said that it is up to you."
That jerk. I seethed and decided to call him.
"You're making me wait, beautiful." And just hearing your voice makes me sick.
"They won't let me in without my companion."
The idea is for you to see me and not him."
"And I will, but not on my own. Now, if you don't want to hear my answer, then it's fine."
"So you prefer your husband to suffer even if he will leave you for someone else? Oh, women. They change minds when they are in love."
"Stop talking and choose," I told him in a cold voice, and I turned to Isaac. "Let's go."
We were about to leave when they stopped us. "Miss, the boss says you can go with your companion."
"It's better than nothing," I whispered to Isaac.
"I still think that this isn't a good idea."
We went up to his office, and I immediately noticed the empty desk where a secretary should be. I knocked on the door, and he ushered me in.
"Isaac, stay outside, and if you hear me scream, barge in."
Isaac looked hesitant. "Sofia, I'll go with you."
"No. Just stay alert and keep track of Amelia's whereabouts. I'll be fine, Isaac."
Despite his resistance, I went in and saw the scum of the earth with an even uglier grin on his face. He doesn't look as bad as before, but you can still see some bruises.
"I thought you wouldn't show up."
"This isn't an easy decision to make, especially if you're asking me to cheat on my husband."
"A husband who left you for another woman." He taunted and walked closer to me. I had to lock all my reflexes in order to not punch him.
"Where did you get the idea that Angel left me for another? Let me guess, maybe because of the rumors about his ex."
"Who in their right mind will leave for many months with a wife like you?"
He played with my hair, and he was too close to my liking, and I could feel bile in my throat.
"He needed to do something important." I defended Angel and distanced myself from him before taking my seat in front of his desk. "I am here to talk about your threat, not business."
"As if you have any other choice, really."
"I am not naive to just accept something like that without weighing my options first. Let's say that I'll accept it." I swallowed the bile in my throat before continuing. "What's my assurance that you will no longer be after Angel?" "That's why I need you to trust me."
I couldn't help but laugh at that. "Trust your words. A beggar's or an addict's words are more reliable than yours, so no, I need a guarantee."
"You are not here to give your conditions, beautiful. If you reject me, not only will he spend the night in the cell tonight, but he won't also be saved by your surname. You know how scandals can affect a business, Sofia." I need to stall him more. Please come already, Amelia.
"I would rather take a risk because I don't have any guarantee that you'll let him go once you get what you want. More than that, we still haven't resolved our issue with France."
"That isn't in our agreement. The contract is mine, and you will reject it."
"Ah, so I will sleep with you and give up the multi-million dollar deal, or you will make my husband pay for the 'damages' you claimed, not to mention the reputation of our companies you are threatening to ruin."
I couldn't help but shake my head at how ridiculous he sounded.
He nodded, his face full of arrogance and pride. "That's right. I knew that little head of yours was full of intelligence. Remember, Sofia, you are in my territory; no one can save you here."
"That sounds like a threat. Are you threatening me, Mr. Brown? Because I don't take threats and pressure well."
I stood up and discreetly checked my phone to see a message from Amelia that said she was on her way.
I stilled when he hugged me from behind. "You smell delicious." He turned me around until we were facing each other. "You'll be me, because if not, then you wouldn't have come."
"Do you accept my conditions? Because you won't get what you want until I have my guarantee."
"There is no guarantee, beautiful. I win; I always win, by hook or by crook."
When he said that, I remembered all this creep's victims.
"Does that mean that you'll force me if I do not agree? What joy a man like you will have by forcing yourself on someone?"
Breathe, Sofia. Breathe and don't kill him yet.
"You're here on your own, and I didn't force you. Your words are against mine. No one will believe you, beautiful."
"I bet that's what you told your victims before you forced yourselves on them, but you forgot one detail: I am not like them. Do you have contacts? Good. Because yours wouldn't be compared to mine. You can die before you can touch me, and don't forget my husband's connection as well." "If I get what I want, then it's worth it," he said in a husky voice before he cornered me at his desk. I tried to push him, but he wouldn't budge. "I promise you that you will like what we'll do, and you'll forget about your beloved Angel."
"Do not touch me because you will wish you weren't born," I warned him and pushed him with all my strength.
God, where is Isaac?
He tried to kiss me, but I used my strength to stop him. "Don't resist anymore, darling. Many tried, but it was futile. So do not waste my time!"
"You overlooked one thing, and that is that you touched what you shouldn't." We heard a voice say, and I saw Angel entering with dark eyes.
"I will do worse than your ugly face if you do not let her go right now."
"How did you get in?" Alexis snapped at him but did not let my hand go.
"That isn't important. The truth is, you threatened my wife that you'd force yourself on her, so tell me, why should I not kill you?" Angel asked in a dangerous tone, his eyes promising what he just said.
"Your wife is the one who came here for fun, and I didn't force her," Alexis replied with a grin.
"And why would you think that my wife would want to see the man who almost raped her?!"
"He told me that he will sue you if I don't agree to sleep with you and that I should reject the contract if we don't want him to ruin us." I found myself answering his question days ago.
"And what is his motivation?" Angel asked, looking more livid than ever.
"I told him that no one can ruin us, but he didn't believe me and insisted," I told Angel innocently, and I inched closer to him while looking at the door.
Where are Isaac and Amelia?"
"You have the balls to threaten my wife? You still dared even after what I did to you."
"I told him the same thing, but he ignored it."
"What a shame, beautiful; now you will both suffer," Alexis said, and I moved away from him just in time for Angel to punch his face, and he sprawled on the ground. "You will pay for this!"
"Mr. Brown," I called him while stopping Angel, and Amelia and Isaac barged in. "I already warned you not to mess with me because you have no idea who you're dealing with, but you ignored my warning."
The cops entered, and only then was I able to relax. They apprehended Alexis, who started to thrash against their hold.
"What's the meaning of this? Go out of my office!"
"They are my visitors," I told him, and Angel looked at me. "My friends are here because, you're right, many women rejected you, but you still forced yourself on them."
"Mr. Alexis Brown, you are under arrest for multiple acts of s****I abuse and abuse of trust and morals."
"Is this a joke?" Alexis exclaimed in disbelief.
"I think you should add some to that list," Angel interrupted them. "Business fraud, tax evasion, embezzlement, and so on." As he said this, Harry came in.
"I think they were ahead of us," I heard him tell Angel while looking around.
"A lawsuit for s****I integrity," Amelia told her fellow lawyer, Harry.
"And we have business fraud, tax evasion, embezzlement, etc," Harry responded.
"I think what's clear is that he will spend his life inside," I interjected while looking at Alexis with a smirk.
"Enjoy your time outside, because this will be the last time," Angel taunted Alexis, and the two glared at each other. "I heard the treatment for rapists like you is a bit... special."
"I told you not to mess with me, and you still did, so suffer the consequences," Angel added.
The cops dragged Alexis, who screamed, and Isaac was quick to record every second of it. I'm sure the video will go viral, along with the photos that the press is taking. They began to swarm him and bombard him with questions. "This is the second time that I saved you from that pervert's hands," Angel muttered to me.
I rolled my eyes at him. "He won't be able to do that because Isaac is outside."
"Of course, that's why I was the one who rescued you before he could lay his hands on you," he replied in sarcasm.
"The point is that he was there when I called, but that's when you came in."
"The truth is, you became careless again, Sofia. You'll never know when danger will come at you."
"I wanted that pervert behind bars for what he did to those poor girls."
"And you almost became one of them. "He refuted, and I glared at him.
"Don't fight me. The important thing is we got rid of that monster."
He then sighed. "I'm pissed at you, Sofia."
"What's new? It would be strange if you weren't." I deadpanned as we walked side by side with the chaos in front of us.
"You exposed yourself to danger, and it looks like you don't care what will happen to you."
"You look cute, all worried like that." I teased him even after what happened.
"He could have tied you to the bed and-"
"Shh!" I immediately shut him up. "Saying that while a pervert is being arrested isn't a good idea, Angel."
"We better leave now that the problem is solved, but we have more."
I looked at him and noticed that he spaced out, and I wondered what was going on with his head.
