Chapter 60: A Relative?
Chapter 60: A Relative?
"Omy gosh, Lyka! You're really pregnant!" Joday shrieked with excitement, mirroring my own disbelief and joy. The realization that I was going to be a mother soon, and that I would hold my own baby in my arms, filled me with a sense of overwhelming happiness. I couldn't believe that this beautiful journey of motherhood was about to begin for me. As Joday hugged me tightly, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for our friendship. It was still surreal to think that we had become such close friends, considering our rough start. But now, she was here, sharing in my joy, and I knew that I could count on her for support and advice. “Did you tell Kiro while you were in his room?” "No, I haven't told Kiro yet. I thought I'd surprise him on his birthday. I was racking my brain for the perfect gift, but then it struck me that our baby would be the best and most special present I could ever give him," I explained to Joday, my thoughts a whirlwind of emotions. Her eyes widened in amazement at my idea. "Oh right! When is his birthday, anyway? That would be the most incredible gift he could ever receive, Lyka!" Joday exclaimed, clearly thrilled for the upcoming surprise. I couldn't help but share in her excitement. "It's on Wednesday," I replied, my heart beating faster at the thought of the next day. I wanted to make it a memorable moment, but at the same time, I felt a tinge of nervousness. Would he be as happy as I was? I hoped so. "Should you just give him the result of the pregnancy test, or are you going to an ob-gyn for an ultrasound? I am so excited for your confession with him, Lyka!" Joday suggested, bubbling with enthusiasm. I considered her words. "Seriously, I am too, Joday. But, there's something bothering me," I admitted hesitantly, unsure if I should share my concerns. Without hesitation, Joday sat beside me, encouraging me to share my thoughts. "What's bothering you, Lyka? Care to share?" she asked kindly. I nodded, grateful for her support. "It's just that... I don't know how he'll react to all of this," I confessed, my worries spilling out. "That's easy, Lyka! To know his reaction, you just have to tell him directly and see how he responds.
It's as simple as that," she said confidently, offering her straightforward advice. As I listened to her, I couldn't help but smile. It was just like Joday to be so straightforward and practical. The usual Joday that I know. "Hays, yes. You could say that easily, but it's hard for me, okay? What if... what if he doesn't want a child? What if everything—" I expressed my fears, my mind racing with uncertainties. "No, Lyka. What if you change your mindset? What if you stop doubting his love for you? Because for me, it's clear that he loves you, but his illness was just controlling him, and that's why he did things that hurt you," Joday said, her voice firm and caring. She continued, "I know it's really hard for you, but for the sake of your child, stop doubting his love, okay? You and Kiro are going to be parents, and you need to focus on the love you have for each other and the joy of bringing a life into this world." Her words struck a chord within me, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for her honest advice. I gasped at her sudden change in demeanor, realizing that Joday had a serious and elegant side to her that I hadn't seen before. She truly was a good adviser, and I appreciated her wisdom. "Woah," was all I managed to say in response. "What, Lyka?" Joday raised her eyebrow, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Don't tell me my words actually worked and you're finally considering telling Kiro about your son?" Her playful tone made me smile. "Yes, your words were amazing, Joday. And I want you to be the Auntie of my child. Soon," I said, and she playfully pinched me. "Of course, of course. Don't you worry!" she replied with a grin. I smiled back at her, feeling a sense of comfort knowing that I had someone like Joday by my side during this journey. "Ahm, Lyka... Shall we tell Miss Linda about it? I'm sure she will jump and clap with joy, you know her..." Joday suggested. She had a point. Miss Linda was like a second mother to me in the mansion, and I respected and loved her deeply. "Yes, I will tell her. Maybe later tonight? We still have some work to do—" I started to say, but Joday interrupted me with a fierce questioning look.
"You're really hard-headed, Lyka, huh? We already told you earlier that you're not allowed to work. Just stay here inside the maid's quarter, and we will take care of the work. Stressing yourself is a big no-no for the baby," she explained, standing up and being stern. "B-but it would be good exercise for me, right? Exercise isn't bad..." I tried to argue, feeling a bit frustrated with their overprotectiveness. "Great alibi, but still no. And no means no," she declared firmly. I sighed, realizing that Joday was right. I needed to prioritize my health and the well-being of our baby. They were just looking out for us, and I couldn't argue with that. I nodded, acknowledging her concern and understanding that she was just looking out for me and the baby. "You're right, Joday. I should listen to you and take care of myself and the baby. I promise not to overexert myself," I said sincerely. Joday smiled and patted my shoulder. "That's the spirit, Lyka! We need to make sure everything goes smoothly for you and the little one," she said reassuringly. I felt grateful to have someone like Joday by my side, always ready to support and guide me. It was strange to think that we started off as rivals, but now she had become one of my closest friends. "Thank you, Joday. I'm really lucky to have you as my friend," I told her, feeling the warmth of our friendship. She laughed. "Oh, stop it! I want to be the best auntie ever to that little baby of yours!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement. "Let's just make a deal, please? Pretty please?" I pleaded with Joday, hoping she would agree to my proposal. She sighed and gave me a skeptical look, but then she sat back down on my bed, closer to me. "Fine, let's hear your deal," she said, crossing her arms. "I'll just do the garden tasks... You know, water some plants, talk to the plants—those are not stressful tasks. In fact, the garden area of the mansion has a fresh, cold breeze that would relax me," I explained, trying to persuade her. "So, you want to make a deal to do only the garden work and nothing else?" she clarified. "Yes, just agree to our deal?" I asked, giving her my best puppy-dog eyes.
She made a face that looked like she was going to vomit, but then she burst into laughter. "You should be thankful because I'm the very kind ‘Joday’. Fine, I agree with you," she said, finally giving in. I quickly took out my cell phone and showed the recording to her. "See, I know you, Joday, so I secured some sort of... evidence, HAHA!" I chuckled. She looked at me in surprise. "You recorded me? Seriously?" she said, sounding a bit embarrassed. I nodded. "Hmp! Okay then, but don't you dare stress yourself," she warned. "You know what? If Kiro finds out about this, that you are pregnant with his baby, he'd be mad knowing that you're still doing the mansion chores, even if it's just in the garden area. He's so protective, you know?" Joday said, her eyes glinting with knowledge. "You seem to know him very well, Joday..." I remarked. Her eyes widened at my words. "I get what you're thinking, but you're wrong. Don't think anything weird between me and Kiro, Lyka," she said, her tone serious. I was shocked and confused. "Then why do you know so much about him?" Joday hesitated for a moment before sighing. "Because we're relatives—and that's a secret. Keep it hidden from anyone, okay?"Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
