CHAPTER THIRTY
I slammed the door shut and headed to the kitchen. Fortunately, I was able to return home safely even though my car was rocking on the road. I wanted to crash my car earlier but my guardian angel didn’t want to. I am disgusted with what is happening in my life. I deserve this fucking pain.
“Fuck you all!” I broke almost everything I have here in the kitchen. I punch everything I see. “Fuck!” I can no longer see clearly due to heavy crying. I took the knife and stabbed the other thing. I broke the appliances and everything I could find. Until I got bored and threw the knife. I stood as I peered into the sink.
“‘Bro.” I heard Phoenix’s voice and I just felt someone hold me. “Stop.”
“Let me go!” I confronted and pushed him leaning against Blaze. “What are you doing here? Go away and I don’t need you.”
“Listen, sucker, we didn’t tell you about the farewell party because we don’t want you to feel upset about Margot’s leaving,” Zeus said.
“But she’s upset because you’re his friend but you put his feelings aside. Hashtag feeling neglected, hashtag feeling not loved by the troops,” Dylan replied.
“And why you’re here? You don’t belong in this group,” Phoenix said.
“I did not come here as a part of the group. I came here as a concerned citizen who sympathized with an unwanted neglected friend.”
“He’s not neglected, sucker.”
“Ok, you said so.” The grumpy idiot even sat at the table.
“Jace, we’re sorry, ok,” Blaze said.
“Go away,” I shooed them away and took the wine from the refrigerator, and handed it to Dylan as well.
“Thanks, fucker.” We cheered first before drinking together.
“We’re not letting you know because you don’t know how to handle the situation. You’re too naive and childish to accept an explanation. If we send you there and you find out that it’s the farewell party of the woman you love, how will you feel?” Phoenix asked as I just smiled.
“Hurting, because I love her. But what you did hurts more because I feel like you cheated on me,” I replied.
“Hashtag feeling betrayed,” Dylan groaned.
“Shut up, sucker!”
“Don’t tell me what to do, fucker.”
“Don’t pay any attention to Dylan,” Blaze whispered. “Listen, Jace. We’re sorry, ok. Don’t make it a big deal. We respected Margot’s decision not to tell about the party,” he added.
“Big deal your face.”
“That, now you tell us you’re not immature and childish. You don’t want to listen to our explanations. We know you’re hurt but at least listen to us, dumbass,” Phoenix said.
“Apologies is already accepted, isn’t it? So leave me alone now.”
“All of this wouldn’t have happened if from the very beginning you had been responsible for what you were doing.” There is persecution Phoenix says.
“How to be responsible, Phoenix?” Everyone looked at Dylan. I was just going to answer when he interfere.
“What?” Phoenix asked with a frown, so Dylan and I turned our attention to the two of them.
“I asked you how to become responsible?” He looked at them. “Isn’t he still responsible that he married and stand his obligation? Isn’t he still responsible that he faced his sin and admitted his mistake? He apologized and asked for a chance but no one listened to him? He chose to leave to be granted Margot’s space. He came back and push himself and repeatedly apologized. Isn’t it responsible that even though it was painful he chose his wife over his son and even though he was hurt and mourned alone he faced the mistake and took it wholeheartedly?”
Even I could not answer. Even Phoenix was silent as well. Neither of them tried to talk to Dylan until he spoke again.
“Ow, because he combined the two caves? But, I think, you don’t need to apply the word responsibility to that. That’s a choice and the only thing he can do is to choose between the two of them. But he’s responsible for his action and he faced his mess. He became responsible for the consequences of his foolishness. He became responsible for admitting the mistake he made. Now, tell us. What is the basis for saying that a person is responsible? Because as far as I know, google said A person is responsible when he fulfills his obligation. And Jace was able to build on his obligation to Margot and his obligation to apologize,” he added.
“And for Brianna, he was also responsible to be fair with her even though she was hooked. He was fair to make her happy and stand his responsibility as a man who pleases his woman. So, Phoenix, what is the word responsible mean, and how to define it exactly?”
“You don’t know how to be responsible because you weren’t there before. Your family is angry with you for being irresponsible.”
“Nah, don’t include them. They hate me because they can’t do what I can. I didn’t give them any responsibility for any mess that I made. Even at work, my choice, my mess, my action, my burden. What I want to know is exactly the correct standard for the word responsible that you say? Maybe your definition is different than my definition.”
“Don’t argue with him, sucker, you can’t win,” Zeus said at Phoenix.
“Stop your argument, why haven’t you gone home yet, Dylan?”
“Why would I, Blaze? I came here because of Jace, and not because of you.”
“We’re his friend so we’re the one he needs, so leave,” Blaze shooed him again.
“If Jace wants me to leave then I’ll leave.” He looked at me then lifted the bottle and drank. “You want me to leave, fucker? You’ll have no ally here when you shoo me.”
“Don’t listen to him, Jace, he’s not helping.” I looked at Phoenix and at the two who could no longer speak.
“He’s not leaving. It’s my house, if there is a need to leave it’s all of you,” I replied and drank again.
“You chose him over us?” Phoenix asked annoyed.
“Why? You left me behind, Phoenix. All of you. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t know about that party. Maybe he’d be better off sympathizing with me than you. Because all of you always think that I am childish without thinking about how I really feel. And maybe he can say more secrets to me than you. Because of my immaturity you can only see.”
“Because that’s what you are,” Zeus replied.
“I didn’t see him like that.” Zeus looked at Dylan. “Ok continue, Zeus, because you’re the only has a sense amongst all of you.”
“But it doesn’t mean that we left you like what you said. You still have us. Maybe we’re wrong, but we’re here for you always, sucker.”
“Dylan is with me also. He understands me better than you,” I replied. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
“So, what will it be like for you to be like Maggie who became dependent on him. Are you going to do drugs too?”
“Hey, don’t include my wife here, Phoenix.”
“My bad.” Phoenix raised his hand.
“Don’t be judgmental, Phoenix. Even if Jace begs for it, I won’t give him.”
“Get out of here. Just leave me here with Dylan,” I said.
“Jace, we can’t leave you like this,” Phoenix.
“Go away! I don’t need you!” I threw the bottle near Phoenix’s foot.
“Let’s go and maybe I’ll just hit that idiot. We already being sympathized with him, but he’s still acting childish.” Phoenix came out first, Blaze followed while Zeus stood first.
“We’ll let you stay alone tonight because we’re at fault. But that doesn’t mean we’ll leave you forever. We’re still your friends, Jace. We’re still one and we’ll get back here if even you like it or not.” He tapped my shoulder and left.
I faced Dylan who was smiling at me. “You, why aren’t you leaving yet? Leave me here as well.”
“I thought we’re friends, you said I sympathize with you?”
“And you believe easily, I just said that to get the three leave.”
“I have a secret to tell you.” I frowning at what he said.
“What?”
“I have a secret. No! we all have a secret against you.”
“What’s the secret?”
“I’m a fan of happy endings and want to always be together two stars who love each other.”
“Are you playing on me, Dylan?”
“Huh? No no. I’m really a fan of happy endings and I want you and Margot to have a happy ending too.”
“What do you want to —-”
“Your son is alive.” It was as if all of a sudden the spirit of alcohol had flown out of my body. I fixed myself quickly because of what he said. It was as if I had just woken up startled by the force of my chest pounding.
“What?” Is he stupid? Is he playing on me? “What did you say?” And my son is really the chosen to be fun of.
“Umami is alive and he’s the one you mistakenly adopted my Margot, you fool.” I approached him and grabbed him by the collar and was about to attack him but he calmly drank again.
“Don’t make fun of me, Dylan?! Don’t include, my child!”
“I’m stupid, Jace, but I’m not a liar, most of all I don’t use no fight especially when it comes to angels.”
“It’s not true what you’re saying, that is her adopted!” Tears welled up in my eyes as he spoke. Little by little, what he said about my son’s life came to my mind. “They adopted it. Didn’t they adopt it!” I’m crying. Fuck! I hate this fucking lie.
“Who told you? Did Margot tell you or did you assume first and she just admitted?” Fuck! I just suddenly woke up that assumed it first because of my stupidity. I let go of Dylan and backed away while continuing to cry.
“How did that happen? The doctor was let me choose over the two of them. I saw Umami in Maggie’s arm not moving.”
“His sleep, you fool. He’s a baby, that’s why he is always asleep. Did you touch it? No, didn’t you?”
“But the doctor asks me.” How did that happen? Is the doctor stupid enough to play me?
“Maggie said that Margot really fainted when she came to the hospital so the doctor decided to split her and let you choose. But when the doctor got back inside the ER she woke up and heard you chose her over the baby. Even though she was groggy, she forced the baby to come out.”
So that is why she didn’t have any scars when something happened to us in Cagayan?
“Margot cheated on me? And she even plans to make that stupid Wallace a father to Umami?”
“You’re slow, assumer and you’re still a fool. They’re cousins, stupids. Wallace is also a Dela Merced. Their father is a brother, and Wallace’s father was the one who held Margot’s money when their father left them.” I looked at Dylan. Fuck! I know he’s stupid but —– maybe he’s not playing on me, is he?
He also helped Maggie and Blaze get back together. And I heard from Dane that he called Hailey’s lawyer not to process Hailey and Phoenix’s annulment or prolong it. But those two didn’t know and only Dane and I knew. I just accidentally also discovered. Isn’t it —— he also does to me now what he does to my friends?
“Cry baby, I’ll just say it again in case you forgot. Margot is not Wallace’s man and your son is alive. Umami is alive. Come on, cry.”
“Is my son alive? Umami is alive?” My tears flowed one after another because of what I heard. Fuck! My son is alive. My Umami is alive. I just got on my knees as I continued to cry.
