His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 276

"I'm fine, really. I'm not tired at all. Aaron, you should head back home. If I need anything, I'll give you a call."

Aaron didn't push any further. He gently patted Eliza's shoulder. "Alright, don't stay awake over-stressing. He's asleep, so you should get some rest too. I'll head home now." "Okay."

After Aaron left, Eliza's strength seemed to leave her, and she slumped against the hospital bed. She held her son's hand tightly, waves of relief and regained hope washing over her. She had always taught her son to avoid dangerous places and not to touch dangerous things. How did he end up in the sea?

Was it just because of that storm?

"Cough, cough." Brock woke up.

Eliza gently caressed her son's face, her eyes red with unshed tears. "You really scared me."

"Mommy." Brock, still too young to fully grasp fear, only knew he had fallen into the sea and that his mom was worried. "Don't cry. I'll be more careful next time."

"Why didn't you stay close to Aaron?" she asked, her fingers tenderly brushing his cheek. She wasn't angry, just desperate to understand. "Tell me, how did you end up in the sea?"

"Mommy..." Brock blinked his big, round eyes. "... It was Uncle Aaron. He threw me in."

Eliza felt as if a bomb had gone off in her head. Her pupils narrowed in confusion. "Are you saying that Aaron threw you into the sea? Brock, you mustn't lie."

"Mommy, Uncle Aaron was carrying me, and I was flying, and then I just... flew out into the sea." He spoke with such sincerity.

But that wasn't what Aaron had said. If it were true, why would he do that? Was it accidental? Was he afraid of being blamed? Adults didn't lie just to avoid blame.

Was it deliberate? If he did it on purpose, why? Why did he harm a child?

Eliza shook her head, unable to make sense of it. She forced a smile, rubbing her son's head. "Were you scared, Brock?"

"At first, I was scared. But then, I saw a man swimming over. He held me, and I wasn't scared anymore." Brock recounted his story earnestly.

Casper was the man who saved him. Brock remembered him.

"Good, go to sleep now. Mommy's here with you."

"Okay."

Eliza was plunged into deep confusion and turmoil. She had known Aaron for years. Three years ago, he had helped her fake her

In her heart, Aaron was like a warm sun in winter, his care and help

appearing just when she needed it,

warming her once-cold heart.

Why would the person who had given her so much hope and comfort want to harm her most cherished son? Aaron knew how much

ch Brock meant to her. Why had the person who once brought her warmth become someone terrifying?

Was it a misunderstanding?

No matter how hard she tried, Eliza couldn't figure it out.

During her son's hospitalization, Aaron had visited a few times. It was clear to her that Brock intentionally avoided him. She could see the fear in her son's eyes.

Several times, she wanted to

confront Aaron, to ask why he had

harmed her child, but she held back.

Without the truth, her accusations

would only complicate things further.

The person she trusted most had become the most dangerous presence in her life. This collapse of trust shattered Eliza's recently mended heart into pieces once again. What in this world was still real? All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
