Chapter 66
Third person narrative
Jasmine sat on her bed, her fingers twisting around themselves nervously, her palms sweaty. It was the eve of her mating ceremony with the brothers.
She couldn’t believe that she was going to mate with the brothers the next day. She was both happy and very nervous.
There was a knock on her door, and she looked up to see Mia walking into her room.
“Hey, what are you doing in here all alone?” Mia asked her, as she sat beside her on the bed.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Nothing. I’m just thinking about tomorrow, that’s all. I’m nervous,” Jasmine answered, smiling shyly.
“Oh, I don’t have any experience, but I don’t think there’s anything for you to be nervous about. In any case, you should be happy, really happy,” Mia answered.
“I am happy, believe me, but this ceremony is going to seal the mating bond between your brothers and me. It all just happening so fast that it doesn’t seem real. I’m sure my mates love me and all, but I can’t help it,”
“I understand, Jasmine. Don’t worry, I’m sure when it’s over and done with, you won’t be feeling this way anymore, okay?” Mia comforted. “So now, can we go downstairs and help out?”
Mia stood up from Jasmine’s bed, her hand in hers. She pulled her up from the bed and out the door, as Jasmine smiled.
She was thankful to have a friend like Mia by her side, to help her out and be there for her whenever she was feeling down or unsure.
They got downstairs and started helping with the decorations and arrangements. Many of the pack members had come in to help them get everything ready.
Jasmine was grateful and made sure to extend her gratitude to every one of them.
Just then, Jasmine saw someone she didn’t expect to see. It was Elaine, their school janitor. She was sure she hadn’t called, so why would she have come?
“Hi, Jasmine,” Elaine greeted and hugged Jasmine with a huge smile on her face.
“Hi, Elaine. I didn’t expect to see you here,”
Jasmine said back, trying to force a smile on her face.
She was suspicious of Elaine’s sudden appearance.
“Well, I just wanted to help out, that’s all. I couldn’t let myself just stay at home and do nothing when I could be here helping,” Elaine explained.
“That’s very nice of you, Elaine. I guess I’ll see you around,” Jasmine said and walked away from her.
She walked to where Mia was talking to some people and pulled her aside.
“What is Elaine doing here, and how does she know where we live?” Jasmine asked.
“Oh, I invited her. I thought we could use the extra help, and she’s super nice, so why not,” Mia shrugged.
Jasmine sighed and shrugged her shoulders too, brushing the thought off and continuing what she was doing.
Jasmine and Mia helped set up, while Ethan, Calix, and Zane walked around the house, lazily. They weren’t doing anything, only teasing the girls.
Jasmine was used to it, so she just rolled her eyes and ignored them. She didn’t have the strength to deal with them with their mating ceremony taking every single corner of her mind.
“Mia, I’ll be right back. They need some more decorations from the store, so I’ll go get them,” Jasmine said to Mia who just nodded her head.
Jasmine walked to the part of the house where the store was. It was in a quieter part of the house, so there were no people there. She was about to open the door to the store when she heard a sound from the hallway after the one she was in.
She frowned and left the handle to check out what had made the sound. When she walked into the hallway, she noticed one of the doors open, and she walked to it and slowly pushed it open.
Inside, she found Elaine inside the room, snooping around, like she was searching for something.
“What are you doing?” Jasmine asked her, and Elaine almost jumped out of her skin.
She turned around, her eyes showing fear before they disappeared in an instant.
“Oh, Jasmine. When did you get here? I didn’t see you there?” She said, her voice shaking.
Jasmine narrowed her eyes as she watched Elaine. Her body language was weird.
“What are you looking for?” Jasmine asked, ignoring her question.
“Well, I was directed to the bathroom around here, but I seem to have gotten lost while looking for it,”
“Really?”
“Yeah,”
Jasmine watched her for a few seconds before sighing.
“It’s on the hallway before this one, the second door,” she directed her, making way for Mia to pass.
Elaine passed her and walked out of the room.
“Thank you,” she said, before rounding the corner.
Jasmine just shook her head and decided to let it go, going back to the store to get the decorations that she wanted.
She returned to where Mia and her mates were. After helping Mia for a while, she turned to her mates who were talking to themselves, and watching them like they were putting on some show.
“I have a question for you boys,” Jasmine said with a sweet smile on her face.
“Yes, baby. We’re listening,” They said, with smiles on their faces.
“Am I the only one getting mated tomorrow?”
“No, baby. We all are. We’re getting mated to you, the most beautiful girl in the whole world,” Calix complimented.
“If you’re sure you want the mating ceremony to hold tomorrow, you better get off of your asses and help us out,”
Immediately she said that the brothers got to their feet and started helping her out.
Mia laughed as she watched them, feeling happy for them, but also sad and lonely at the same time.
She was turning twenty soon, and she was still yet to find her mate. Her brothers’ mate was right in front of them the whole time, so they didn’t have to struggle to find her.
She sometimes felt like a fifth wheel, left out of all the fun. She also tried not to join them in their activities, so they could have their privacy, but she was lonely.
Mia’s mind went back to the last full moon. She was certain she had seen a shadowy figure in the distance, and she felt a strong pull to it, but it disappeared before she could even go near it.
It had been bugging her ever since that day, but she hadn’t told anyone about it.
Mia wondered what kind of person her mate would be, what kind of job he would do, and what he liked in a girl. There were a lot of things she was curious about, but there were no answers to her questions.
She sighed as she continued decorating, looking sad. Jasmine and her brothers didn’t notice because they were too busy laughing and playing with each other.
Gina who was also helping with the decorations, noticed how Mia’s mood had changed. She walked over to her, taking a few decorations from her and helping her out.
“What’s wrong, Mia? You seem down,” Gina asked.
“Nothing, mom. I’m fine” Mia said, but her gaze was on her siblings and Jasmine.
Gina quickly realized what was going on and smiled a little.
“You don’t have to worry about that, sweetie. You’ll find your mate when the time is right,” Gina encouraged.
“I’m just a little lonely, that’s all. Jasmine spends all of her time with the boys, and I don’t have anyone to talk to, but it’s fine,” Mia shrugged.
“You don’t have to worry about that, Mia. Just be patient, and you’ll be rewarded for it,”
Mia nodded, listening to her mom and trying to not look down.
“I think I’ll go upstairs, I’m tired,” Mia said and her mom nodded.
“Okay, sweetie. Rest well,”
She made her way upstairs and to her room. She jumped into her bed, feeling physically and mentally stressed. She truly needed that rest.
With the image of the shadowy figure in her mind, Mia drifted to sleep, thinking when she would get to meet him.
