Chapter 2369

She looped her arm through Estelle's, "Last night, I was talking with Sylvia about her and Gab. Sylvia has feelings for Gab, and now that he's gone, what is she going to do?"

Estelle was silent for a moment before speaking, "Before he left, he asked me to look after Sylvia."

Magdalen frowned, "Did he say when he'll be back?"Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Estelle shook her head.

Magdalen somberly said, "Sylvia must be heartbroken."

And after that, he never showed up again.

Estelle said with a heavy heart, "As long as my brother hadn't stepped down, this was always a possible outcome. Sylvia must have been prepared for it."

"Is it really over just like that?" Magdalen felt even more upset than when she went through her own breakups. She always thought they were perfect for each other, and knowing they had known each other for so long only convinced her more that they were meant to be.

Now, to see it end like this was deeply regrettable. "After so many years, to love each other but not be able to be together, it's just heartbreaking!" Estelle had thought that once the Triceratops situation was resolved, things would improve for Tripe, and Sylvia could be the reason her brother would finally step back.

But then he just left without a word.

Back at the hotel, after taking a shower, Estelle sat on the couch, thinking about sending Sylvia a message but not knowing what to say.

No words or person could comfort her now.

Jonathan came over and held her in his arms, "Thinking about Gab?"

"I thought my brother wouldn't leave!" Estelle said with a tight expression, "When I saw the tourmaline ring on Sylvia's finger, the one that was Grandma's dowry, Grandpa's most treasured item, I thought that by giving it to Sylvia, it was my brother's way of acknowledging her."

"In Gab's heart, there's just too much he can't let go of," Jonathan gently stroked Estelle's head. "Giles has always been Tripe's biggest arms dealer, always a threat. That he could coexist with Citadel and Triceratops shows his power is not to be underestimated, and the only one who could keep him in check was Gab."

Estelle's gaze turned firm, "I understand. When I took on the mission and suggested to our superiors that my brother should step down, I knew it wouldn't be easy for him."

"If Gab wants to step down, no one can stop him. If he doesn't want to, no one can change his mind," Jonathan said, his eyes distant. "Sylvia is definitely special to Gab, but how much she affects him, probably only Gab will truly know once he's left."

Estelle nodded, "I know we can't force these things. If my brother doesn't come back, I hope Sylvia can move on soon."

She leaned into his embrace, "Grandpa must be disappointed too. Right now, I just want to go back and see him."

"Grandpa's already asleep. We'll go back tomorrow morning."

Jonathan cupped her face and

kissed her, "Don't overthink it.

Grandpa has lived through a lot. He's

stronger than you think, and everyone was prepared for this

outcome."

His voice was husky as he kissed her cheek, moving down to capture her lips, "It's late, let's go to sleep."

"Mhm," Estelle responded, wrapping her arms around him.

The next morning, they said their farewells to the Jarvis family and Mr. Carnes, and then headed back to J City. Sylvia didn't go; she had left early in the morning.

As Estelle was waking up, she received a message from Sylvia,

[Estelle, I've left. I should have said goodbye to Mr. Jarvis, but forgive me, I didn't know how to face him. So, I'm asking you to apologize to Mr. Jarvis for me. I'll visit him when I get the chance.]

[And thank you, thank you all.]

Estelle stared at the message for a moment before replying, [Safe travels, take care.]

Sylvia, [Goodbye]

Jonathan wrapped his arms around her from behind, "What's wrong?"

Estelle turned within his embrace, her eyes closed, "Sylvia's gone."

She suddenly remembered the day she left Citadel; Sylvia had also sent her a message in the morning, saying she had to leave.

She always seemed to be on her own; apart from her brother, she had no one else by her side.

And now, her brother had left her behind again.

In the few lines of the message, Estelle could sense her restraint and unspeakable pain.

Jonathan kissed her forehead,

pulling

mer closer, "Don't worry t much. As long as Gab can't leget

Sylvia, he'll come back."

Estelle nodded, snuggling into his embrace.
