Chapter 66 Let's Start Over
Chapter 66 Let's Start Over
"Why did you take care of me?"
Luz was stunned by his question. He had gotten injured saving her, so of course, she would take care
of him. She couldn't meet his eyes that were not cold any more.
"Would you still take care of me if I wasn't injured saving you?"
"I..."
She suddenly felt tongue-tied. She didn't know what to say at all. She did not dare to even think of this
question, because she didn't want to face the answer.
But Henry seemed adamant on forcing an answer out of her. He placed his hand on hers. "Luz, you still
love me, don't you?"
Her motions paused for a second and she stiffened. At that moment, she wanted to throw down the
towel and leave this place that made her heart rate speed up abnormally.
Her ex-husband, whom she divorced seven years ago, was asking her if she still loved him. Was this
arrogance on Henry's part, or was she such a failure that she couldn't forget someone who doesn't love
her?
"I'm done. I'm going to get some water."
She wanted to put up a calm facade and tell him that he was thinking too much, just like she had done
before, and that she was taking care of him because she was a good person, but it felt like too much of
a lie even to her.
After these few days of living with him in close quarters, she had to admit that she could not forget
Henry Maynard. Everything she had been telling herself, from forgetting him to starting a new life, was
just a lie. It was like his name was carved into her heart.
"Luz."
Henry grabbed her hand to stop her from leaving. His voice was low, but there was a hint of passion,
which was very different from his normal tone. "These seven years felt like a millennium."
Seven years ago, he signed his name on the divorce agreement and wished he could forget Luz Boone
the very next day. However, during these seven years, he could not forget her face, no matter how
many women he surrounded himself with. The tears on her face were branded into his heart.
"..."
Luz tightened her fingers around the basin. What was he trying to say? He had been enjoying himself
in the last seven years.
He had the companionship of the hottest celebrity. How could the last seven years be long for him?
"Let's start over."
Henry had always felt that it would take a lot of effort to say the three words, but after he finished, he
felt that it was not as difficult as he had imagined.
However, as if she had heard something unbelievable, Luz froze on the spot, as if she had been struck
by lightning.
Did he just say that he wanted to start over?
Henry looked up at her, trying not to let his eyes look as anxious as he felt, but on the inside, he was
panicking, just like a child sitting for his first exam.
"Henry... Are you feeling unwell?" Otherwise, why would he say such words?
Hearing such an answer, he frowned and then pulled her hand to his chest. "Why do you think I said
that because I'm not feeling well?"
Henry had never let down his pride for a woman. He finally had the courage to do it, but this woman
asked if he was feeling well.
His pulse beat regularly against her palm. Luz blushed uncontrollably. She had just recalled all the pain
and hurt he had inflicted on her seven years ago. She should reject him mercilessly now, but she
couldn't bring herself to do it.
Not only that, but she could also feel her heart beating faster and faster.
"Luz, nod and agree."
Henry tilted his head to look at her, and his eyes were full of temptation. Luz swallowed her saliva and
pursed her lips so that she wouldn't be lured into doing what he told her.
"I'll get some water first."
She tried to wrestle her hand from the warm pulse, but Henry had no plans to let go of her. Seven
years ago, pride and anger had made him sign the divorce agreement. He wasn't liberated at all.
Instead, the pain had simmered inside him, to the point that just her name was enough to feel like a
knife cutting into his heart.
He suddenly sat up on the bed and pulled her into his arms.
"Tell me you have a space in your heart for me that no one else can fill in like I have for you."
His overbearing tone carried his signature magnetic charm. Her heart skipped a beat and lost the
rhythm.
A space in her heart that no one else could fill?
It was as if her hidden feelings had been exposed to the world. Her eyes reddened. Declan had spent
seven years caring for her.
She wasn't blind, and she wasn't trying to lead him on, but she couldn't help it. There was a space in
her heart that had already been filled, and until she managed to get rid of him, no one else could take
his place.
"Henry Maynard, I hate you."
Her emotions, which had been suppressed for a long time, were suddenly released, and her tears
could not help but fall. When she was at rock bottom seven years ago, he had held his hands behind
his back and watched as she drowned. He had shattered all her dreams.
"If you hate someone, you should be with him. That's the cruellest torture imaginable. That's how you
take your revenge."
Henry pressed her head into his shoulder and frowned, but there was a hint of tenderness in his eyes.
Seven years was long enough for him to realise that life was meaningless without Luz by his side.
Tears seeped into his shoulder. It was cold and boiling at the same time.
"Luz, give us another chance to find happiness."
If she hadn't returned to the country, he would have continued telling himself angrily that she was a
stupid woman who had terrible taste in men, but now that she is back, that meant that they were meant
to be. Their fates were intertwined, for better or for worse.
Not to mention what had happened this time. Whenever he thought of the blood in the car, he felt
murderous.
Her tears fell like a breached dam. She kept crying as if this was the only way she could find the
courage to achieve the happiness that Henry was telling her about. Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
He held the woman tightly in his arms and gently stroked her soft hair with his hand. He had a small
smile on his pale lips. It felt so good to hold her like this.
She didn't know how long she had been crying. When she gradually came back to her senses, she felt
that the breathing of the man leaning against her was getting heavier and heavier.
"Henry?"
Seeing his pale face, she realized that the wound on his back was still bleeding.
"Lie down quickly."
She broke free from his embrace and saw that his entire back was stained with blood.
She got another basin of warm water and carefully cleaned and rebandaged his wound. Her worries
only eased slightly when she confirmed that the wound was no longer bleeding.
