Chapter 21- Amara
Chapter 21- Amara
As the afternoon rolled around, Steven, Ryder and I made our way to the cabin. The pack is going to
be there by twelve and so are we. We decided to not bring Arabella with us as she is still going through
the after effects of yesterday’s events. Lucas, Archer and Hudson threw a fit to come with us but we
denied them and now they are probably sitting in one of their rooms pouting together. Aria might have
joined them as well.
I sighed for… I don’t how many times today. It is a very important day today.
“Love everything will be alright. Don’t worry too much.” Steven said from beside me.
I know we can get there in a few minutes but I wanted to take a walk to clear my head and think
about… well everything. In between yesterday’s dinner and Ryder showing up out of nowhere, I had no
time to think anything over. I do have some ideas but I don’t know if they will totally be worth it. Besides
we don’t know the full extent of the problem.
“Amy.” Steven stepped in front of me stopping me in my tracks.
I looked up at him confused.
“What is going on in your head?”
“Nothing. Just the things about the meeting and our problems that are to come.”
I rubbed my head as it was starting to ache now from the over thinking.
“We will figure something out. Don’t worry about it too much.” Ryder said. “Besides you are not alone in
this situation. None of us are. We will work something out.”
“You do understand that there is a major possibility that our children will be fighting right? They might
die there.” I exclaimed horrified even at the thought of it.
“Yeah and I trust them enough to know that they will destroy every damn demon that comes to kill us.”
Steven said firmly.
I nodded still not fully convinced. What if something happened to them? I won’t be able to live with
myself if anyone of our people died.
“Princess just hop on. We are not getting anywhere with you exploding your head for something that
hasn’t happened yet. We will run there.” Ryder more like ordered.
I opened my mouth to object but shut it when Ryder growled at me. I quickly climbed on his back and
buried my face in his neck.
“What about me?” Steven asked blinking innocently at us.
“Use your damn feet. I am not carrying your dumb ass anywhere.” Ryder snapped and took off.
Uhh! These two. I still can’t understand why Ryder detests Steven so much.
In a mere few minutes we were in the clearing in front of the cabin. The alpha and his fellow spirit
wolves were already there waiting for us to arrive. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
This place is going to be really crowded soon with the eleven spirit wolves from this pack, seven from
the other, the seven shifters and the two of us. Not to forget, the spirit wolves are magnificent
creatures.
I am already feeling claustrophobic after even thinking about it.
Steven and I sat down on the steps of the cabin with Ryder sitting right beside me, giving the alpha
challenging looks.
That possessive idiot. It’s not like they are going to attack us now.
“Come to the clearing.” I heard Ryder say in the mind link.
One by one, ten spirit wolves emerged from the trees and sat beside Ryder so that the other pack of
spirit wolves and our pack were sitting right across from each other.
The shifter emerged and took the only remaining space in the circle that was right across from me.
Nobody spoke for a while. The air was filled with tension.
“We would like to know anything and everything about the demons.” Leo stated.
“Fine.” The Alpha started. “They are sneaky little things. They are fast but not faster than us. Same
goes with their strength. They can’t shift or anything but they can protrude sharp talons and teeth which
contains some sort of poison that paralyzes a human body. It does not have that much effect on
shifters but it can leave their body weak for a few seconds and that’s all they need to finish you off if
they are smart enough which I don’t think they are from what I saw but we need to be more careful.
From what my father told me, this poison has no effect on the spirit walkers or spirit wolves but they
come in great number for the attack. So it covers for their lack of strength and speed. The group that
attacked us had at least two hundred of them. We weren’t even a fifty. You can do the calculation as to
what rate they attack. Demons have lower status in our world. Lower than a witch or a vampire. A
witch’s magic can hold them for at least fifteen seconds but that’s all. It only works for the low level
demons that they use as the army. For the high level ones, the witch can only freeze them for a mere
three to five seconds depending on the witch’s level of powers. The lower level demons are easy to kill.
Just decapitate them and they will disintegrate into ashes immediately. I killed almost ninety percent of
the force that came for us but I think they will come in greater number this time. Their leader wasn’t
present with them. As to how to kill a higher level demon? Well I don’t know how to do that exactly.
That knowledge wasn’t passed on to me. Maybe the previous spirit walker or a high level witch can tell
us about it. The only problem is that we are not entirely clear of their intension. If they are only trying to
eliminate us completely, that do make sense but what if they have an ulterior motive?”
