Chapter 6
The wall clock ticked to her hearing, it wasn’t that loud in sound, but because she was deep in thought, it sounded noisy to her.
She kept glaring at the clock but was unable to take action towards it. There is nothing she can do to it other than to stop it from ticking which she doesn’t want to do.
Her eyes found her well-arranged bed, and her lips pulled into a slight smile. She needs to go to bed now rather than sticking herself into a thought that seems like forever.
She climbed onto the bed and enveloped herself with the blanket, trying so much to fall asleep but she couldn’t.
What the hell is truly wrong with her? Is she truly okay or just trying to comfort herself when she can’t? Those questions continuously rang in her ear but she couldn’t get an answer to them.
It’s vivid that she can’t sleep, she can’t shut her eyes down for some minutes again. The only image that keeps appearing on her face is little Chloe and her father.
The only discussion running in her head is that which sir Xavier has brought up this past evening.
But, she can’t give in to the job. She can’t abandon the bakery she used her whole savings to open. This bakery means her whole life to her, it’s her only means of survival, and that’s why she can’t stop the business just within a moment.
There’s no need to affix herself deep into the discussion again when she has already taken her decision. She can’t give in to the Job and abandon the business that meant life to her.
What if Chloe feels bad? The little girl might begin hating her for taking such a decision right? She doesn’t need Xavier to develop hatred toward her. The fact that she’s in love with him but doesn’t want him to be aware because he’s married won’t be an opportunity for him to hate her with so much passion.
She laid down gripping the pillow to her head so tight.
It’s high time she placed her head on a man’s chest. She can’t imagine the last time a man stared into her eyes, promised to love her, and then placed a kiss on her lips or forehead.
She wants to be treated this way after a very long time, that’s exactly what her body wants instantly. And that’s one reason she doesn’t want to be employed as a babysitter. She might not overcome the temptation of loving a married man.
Vanessa heaved a big sigh of relief while staring at the white ceilings. She glanced at the wall clock again and it was 10 pm already.
She needs to stop affixing herself to this messy thought and doze off. A lot of work is waiting patiently for tomorrow, she needs to rest her tongue from tomorrow.
Her eyes shut so tight, and within minutes, she was already in a deep sleep.
************
Chloe glanced at her father’s face again, she wouldn’t let this man rest so long as she lives under the same roof as him.
She has been between his thighs all these minutes after she woke him up from sleep.
His face wasn’t expressing happiness at all, but she didn’t mind how he felt at the moment.
“But dad, you would have convinced her the most. That’s one reason I pleaded with you for me to talk, but you wouldn’t let me.” Chloe referred to her father who was busy staring at the cotton linen on the window.
She gripped his palm and placed a kiss on it. “Chloe isn’t gonna let her father rest if the request isn’t granted. That alone will make her happy.”
Xavier stared at her and bit his tongue. “You need to go to bed Chloe, tomorrow is still a day to discuss this. My eyes are paining me damn much, I need to sleep and relieve myself of the pain.”
She pouted her lips in a less concerning manner. “How did you tell her about my request, dad? Or you just told her you want to employ her as my babysitter?”
“No, I told her that you’ve been disturbing me all this while from the first day you set your eyes on her. And since then, you persisted. I should employ a babysitter for you and she must be the one. That’s all I said, but she wasn’t able to give me a reply until I left.” Xavier narrated the hearing of her daughter.
He did this to spare himself the pain and many questions from her, but that wasn’t the end.
“So, why then is she still refusing to give in. Okay, dad. I’m gonna do it this way, let’s go visit her bakery tomorrow, I need to speak to her myself so she will realize how serious I am about it. I believe she will give in once she sees how serious I am.” Chloe explained.
Xavier nodded, acceding to all she uttered. “Tomorrow you’ll go see her while I leave for my business.”
Chloe watched her father as he laid down and slept off within minutes, she climbed down from the bed and left the room to hers.
She doesn’t need to stay with her dad tonight.

VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING
Xavier sat on the sofa opposite his bed trying to reflect on the discussion he had with Chloe the last night about her babysitter.C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
It hit his mind of all she said about visiting Nessa in her bakery today to let her know how serious she is about the request being granted.
“That might be the best to save me from the stress, she had already sworn not to let me have a rest of mind.” Xavier muttered to himself.
He crossed his leg on the other and grabbed his cellphone. One thing is bothering him but she doesn’t know how to go with it.
Employing Vanessa to work for him as a babysitter is one temptation no man can overcome. Well, he has a girlfriend already, and so he will try so well to get his eyes off her.
If being rude to her will wipe away the silly feelings he had for her, then that might be the best.
He circled her lips and began scrolling through his contact. He needs to check on his girlfriend and as well remind her of their deal for today.
On the second Ring, after he dialed her contact, she picked up the receiver.
“Hi darling, good morning, how are you doing?” A feminine voice spoke out through a phone.
He smiled on hearing that sweet and tiny voice echo to his hearing.
“I’m so good. I decided to check on you and as well remind you of our deal for today. Hope you haven’t forgotten?” Xavier uttered.
She smiled at his words. “Oh yes! I haven’t forgotten a dime on our last discussion. Well, I’ll be coming over before an hour now. And you know what, I can’t wait to set my eyes on you after a week.”
Xavier chuckled within himself. He loved the fact that she was missing him already.
After a while, the call ended and he left to meet his children. Tracy was busy in the kitchen while Ben was cleaning up the whole building.
“Good morning dad, I’ll soon leave to meet ma’am Vanessa,” Chloe uttered while playing with his fingers.
He turned deaf ears to what she said and was busy staring around the sitting room.
“You’re doing a great job, Ben. Call Tracy, I need to announce something to you two.” Xavier referred to his son.
He left the kitchen and dropped the message to Tracy after which he went ahead with his cleaning.
Xavier waited for almost thirty minutes in the sitting room for her daughter, but she kept assuring him of being with him soon.
“Did you hear me at all dad, I’ll leave to see ma’am Vanessa soon,” Chloe stated again this time to his hearing.
He shook his head. “You’ll do that after my visitor arrives, I might follow you there too.”
“No dad, I don’t need you to go with me.” Chloe persisted.
Ben glanced at his dad on hearing about having a visitor. He wondered who the visitor might be, that it’s so special to his dad.
“Here I am dad, sorry for keeping you waiting. I did that because I’m sure you aren’t going anywhere, and I need to be done with the meal before stepping out of the kitchen.” Tracy narrated to her father.
He shuddered and ordered them to have a seat.
“We’re expecting a visitor some minutes later, so I need you to organize yourself so well and put things together before she arrives.” Xavier narrated to them.
“She… You just said ‘she…’ who is she?” Ben asked his father.
His eyes widened as he stared at him. Heaven knows how scared he was already.
“She is Miss Lilian Smith…”
“And what do we have to do with her here?” Tracy questioned while rolling her eyes.
The doorbell rang twice and Chloe ran towards it wishing it would be her babysitter. They all affixed their eyes to the door curious to know who the person is.
She stepped in, having a slight smile on her face.
