Divorce To Restart: Vengeful Ex-Wife Strikes Back!

Busy Bee

Chapter 24 Busy Bee

ANDREA’S HOME, NEW YORK. Andrea hissed for the umpteenth time as she reloaded her feed, hoping something of interest would pop up. Nina seemed determined to hide away from her. She was surprised that Nina no longer worked at the grocery store. It made her feel good that Nina might be scared of what she would do. Even though it is inevitable that Asher would rather be with her than Nina, it doesn’t stop her from being paranoid. Many things are at stake for Andrea, so she considers knowing a possible enemy has been dealt with a significant step forward. Giving up on the phone, she tossed it to the bed and stared blankly at her closet. She must send a few out for her to have enough to survive on. Settling some of the companies on behalf of Asher because of Nina drained her a bit. Her mother walked into the room and went straight to her vanity mirror without a word. “Mum, for goodness sake! How often have I warned you to stop barging into my room like we own it together?” “Well, it’s my house. Deal with it if and when you have the money to get your place. You can make the rules then.” Julia said. “Err, our names are on the document,” Andrea stated. “If it wasn’t for me, would you have gotten it?” Andrea groaned inwardly; her mother can be such a pain in the neck. Andrea can’t wait to move into Asher’s house, where she controls everything she desires. Remembering that she could as well live in the house with no one to stop her made her happy. Ignoring her mother’s attitude, she stood up to get dressed. “Where to?” Julia asked, packing her hair in a ponytail. “Does that concern you, mum?” She retorted. Her mother cut her a stern glare. “I have warned you always to watch your tone when you speak to me. I am still your mother.” “Whatever! I am heading to Asher’s.” Julia rolled her eyes. “I can’t believe you went as far as wrecking that innocent girl’s life and marriage. How do you sleep at night?” “I could ask you the same. Just because it’s different dimensions doesn’t make the sin differ. He wants me, and I want him, too. End of discussion.” “It’s your life to live. I hope you don’t have regrets.” Said “Since you don’t have. I sure won’t either. I have you to blame for all of this.” “You are almost thirty, a young woman but old enough to own up to your mistakes. None of this is my fault. You had your chance, and you blew it.” Julia hissed. Andrea bites down on her lips to keep the sarcastic comment from forming. “When would dad be back?” “Don’t you have his contact? Call him.” “Is that a taunt? Shouldn’t you be ashamed of yourself?” “You should, too. Why do you need that figure anyway?” “Because I am getting married, and Asher wants to meet my family.” “Your father specifically, right?” There was an obvious taunt in Julia’s voice. Andrea scoffed. “You know what? I am the one to blame here. Suit yourself. Just get out of my room.” She inhaled deeply and held her gaze. “You see, Andrea. The most regret I have is birthing you. You have such a dark heart that I fear you will bring destruction to the world. Nina was a sweet girl who loved you with all of her heart. I did wrong, but I want to believe I was pretty naive then. And I am paying for my mistakes. But you, you are just a walking bomb. Ready to blow up anyone’s life. Suppose you know what is best for you, back off. Or else you will have no one to go back to.” “No, mum. I will always have a backup plan, unlike you. Trust me.” “Good for you.” She mumbled, heading out of the room. Tears laced her eyes heavily as she turned her back. Never did she think her life would tumble this way. She has always seen herself as the luckiest person ever to exist, not until things went haywire after her final year in college. She knew then that she had to do everything it took to make sure her life remained the same as always. Her determination has kept her until now. And she has no reason to back down after such hard work. Wiping the tears away, she picked up her phone and dialed her father, Chad Davis. The chairman of CD Technologies distributes enterprise software; she knows how busy he might be, but that has never stopped him from answering her calls. Andrea let out a breath of relief when the call connected. “Dad.” She whined. Chad sounded distant on the other end. “I do not have time for this, Andrea. What do you want?” She gulped hard at the cold edge in his voice. “Dad, I was just hoping you would consider my request. Please, we need to meet with you.” “I have a busy schedule.” “It has never stopped you before. Has the love gone that you don’t want to see me? I still love you very much, papa.” Her voice broke. The older man exhaled slowly. “Don’t sound so bleak. Alright then. Let’s have a family dinner this Friday at our usual restaurant, and you can invite him over then.” There was a brief pause. “And his family, too. Let’s end this at once.” She giggled in delight. “Thank you so much, daddy. I love you.” He didn’t wait for her to profess before ending the call. That did not bother Andrea much. She dialed Asher immediately. He picked on the third ring. “Hey, baby.” He mused with his mouth full. Andrea made a face. “Are you eating?” She heard him swallow, making her wince. “Yes, I am having lunch. How are you, baby?” She rolled her eyes. “I am fine. Are you free this Friday?” “I am not sure yet. I have a couple of meetings set out for me.” “You had better cancel all of them. We would be having a family dinner at my dad’s favorite restaurant. And he wants you to come, plus your parents.” Asher laughed a bit too loudly before calling himself together. “Oh, yeah, that’s good. I will make time, and my parents will be available. Do I need to pick you up?” “No, I will go in Dad’s car.” “Alright, baby. Take care of yourself. I love you.” Her cheeks reddened. “I love you too.” She cooed, dropping the phone. Spreading herself out into the bed, she curled up into it. Her dreams are about to come true.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
