Chapter 74
Unice’s PoV
I’m glad Ace is okay and was transferred to a mental hospital; we’re now talking about the baby since I told him I’ll go back to the hospital for check-ups and an ob-gyn appointment.
“What do you think about it being a baby boy?” Ace inquired, and I laughed.
“We’ll know soon. It’ll depend on the ultrasound. It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl. It’s our child,” I told him, and he smiled at me, excited, he touched my tummy, and I heard a little knock.
“I’m sorry to interrupt you two, Miss Unice, but we need to talk,” Dr. Henry said, and I returned my gaze to Ace.
“It’s okay. Go talk to him,” Ace responded, and I nodded, standing up from my seat and exiting the room to speak with Dr. Henry.
“I apologize for bothering you both, but I’m going to ask you some questions, and you must answer them honestly,” Dr. Henry advised, and I didn’t respond as we continued walking towards his clinic office; when we arrived and entered, he pointed to a chair.
I sat down and looked around his clinic, which was straightforward, and Dr. Henry placed the paper on his desk. I’m nervous right now, and I’m hoping he won’t tell the authorities if I tell him everything on my side.
“Shall we get started? Relax, I want to know the answer from your side. I will look at this paper to see if it matches since I already interviewed Ace,” Dr. Henry advised, and I nodded while taking a deep breath.
“Let’s start with the easy part: Did you assist him in killing Edward Heils?” He inquired quickly.
“No, I didn’t do that. I only tried to seduce Edward and failed,” I respond, and he nods while writing down my response.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“Okay, next question: have you seen the corpse he’s hiding in his house? Which he hides Edward’s corpse body?” Dr. Henry has asked me another question.
“Yes, I know that, and I’m a little afraid, but I trust Ace because he loves me,” I replied softly, and he nodded.
“Things are going well so far. After he killed Edward Heils, do you know that he plans to kill Christian Heils, Edward’s son?” Dr. Henry inquired, and I shrugged.
“It was so quick. He just told me after coming home early from work,” I added, and he nodded.
“You two appear to be telling the truth, which is a good sign. Don’t worry, I’ll keep this private because I need it for his case. After all, he has a mental disorder,” Dr. Henry reassured me, and I nodded. I inhaled and exhaled to relax, thankful it would be kept private.
“Is it correct that he tricked you? You went to his house thinking it was for sale?” Dr. Henry continued, and I nodded.
“Yes, he tried to kill me at first, but I believe he changed his mind,” I replied.
“What makes you think he’ll change his mind?” Dr. Henry was curious about curiosity.
“To be honest, I don’t want him in my life because all I think about is escaping and finding a new home, but I changed my mind and decided to obey his rules, which is to make love with him every night,” I explained to him, and he nodded.
“He admitted to me that he fell in love with you at first sight, but he also admitted to me that he was obsessed with you, which is a symptom of his disorder,” Dr. Henry added.
“I understand; will he be treated, and will he be able to be free?” When I asked him, he stopped writing.
“He’s still a criminal; that doesn’t mean he’s exonerated; I’m just going to treat him because that’s my job, and if he gets paroled, that’s great,” Dr. Henry explained, and I nodded.
“Are you concerned that he may spend the rest of his life here?” I nodded when he asked.
“You’re pregnant. You don’t need to worry about anything right now. It’s bad for a baby if you become stressed,” Dr. Henry said, and I know that. I’m trying not to overthink things because I want our baby to be as healthy as possible.
“We’ve finished with the questions; do you still want to speak with Ace? You still have time to talk to him,” Dr. Henry announced, and I rose from my seat.
“Can I? Do I have a few minutes to speak with him?” When I asked him, he looked at his wristwatch.
“You have at least thirty minutes to talk to him because it’s illegal to talk to the patient for more than one hour,” Dr. Henry replied. I nodded as he exited the clinic.
As I walked, I noticed Tom exiting the room and greeting me with a smile. I entered Ace’s room and noticed him looking out the window. He turned around and was surprised to see me.
“I thought you were leaving; did you ask for more time to talk to me?” Ace inquired, so I approached him.
“Yes, I ask Dr. Henry if I can still speak with you. I only have 30 minutes. Would you like to take a picture?” I questioned Ace, and he touched my shoulder.
“I spoke with Tom, and he said you’re doing an excellent job with the company. Perhaps you are already acquainted with our employees.” Ace said this, and I smiled.
“You are correct. I’m already acquainted with them; they’re friendly people,” I explained. We took a selfie using my phone’s camera.
“Did you return to my old house after moving into our new house?” Ace pondered me, and I returned my phone to my bag.
“I didn’t go back because our old house is being investigated; is there anything I should pick up there?” I responded to him.
“Nothing, it’s just that my phone was still there, but don’t worry, I deleted everything except the moon, which I photographed because they won’t find any evidence there,” Ace indicated, and I laughed. Is that what he meant about using that in other things?
“Do you mean you’ll use it in other things?” He nodded as I queried him.
“That’s right, I think they already have my phone,” Ace pleaded, laughing as he sat down on his bed.
“You need to go now. You need to rest because you’re pregnant,” Ace suggested, and I sat beside him.
We talked for thirty minutes about the essential things that have transpired since we parted because that is the time left. Hence, I told him what I did and advised him what to do next in the company, but most importantly, Ace is aware of our baby and me.
“Looks like time is up. Don’t you want to give me a goodbye kiss?” I made fun of him, and he smirked.
“Of course I want. I miss you so much,” Ace replied, and he began to kiss me; I miss his kiss; his kiss felt different now; perhaps I just miss him.
After he kissed me, he kissed my forehead, and I stood up. I don’t want to overthink it, and I can’t be stressed just because we’re so far apart. I have to be strong for our baby; this is a challenge.
“Take care of yourself at all times, Unice, stick to the plan, don’t worry about me, I’m fine, focus on our upcoming child, and take care of yourself. My men will help you out if you need anything.” As I touched the doorknob, Ace said, I looked at him again and smiled.
“I will and be good here. I know you will receive treatment here,” I assured him as I exited the room, where Tom awaited me.
“Let’s go home, Tom,” I said, and he nodded. We started walking when I noticed Dr. Henry talking to the nurses and approached him.
“Thank you for today, Dr. Henry; if that’s okay with you, I’ll visit him every weekend.” I interrogated him while he held a medical clipboard.
“That’s fine; it’s Monday today, so the next visit will be on Sunday?” He defined it.
“Yes, I will return on Sunday. Thank you for your assistance, doctor. Please look after Ace.” Dr. Henry was thanked.
As we decided to leave, Dr. Henry tapped my shoulder and Tom and got in the Humvee car, where Justin and Zoey were waiting for us.
