Contract Marriage With The Disabled CEO By Woody Rain Chapter 43
Chapter 43
Chapter 43 Shameful Photos
On Monday, when Betty got up and was about to go downstairs for breakfast, she didn’t expect to
receive a phone call from the hospital.
“What?” Betty stopped in her tracks. “2000 dollars? I have to pay in a few days? No. No. I can pay the bill. Please use the medicine. I’ll go raise the money.”
After hanging up the phone, Betty sighed.
Since her mother’s condition had improved, the medications she used had all changed into imported drugs. As most of the medications could not be purchased with health insurance, she felt more and more powerless about it.
However, she couldn’t give up on her mom’s treatment. So, she could only call the HR office.
“Excuse me. I’m going to get paid early again.” Betty said, a little embarrassed. “But what about my mom? Well, I know. I’ll wait to hear from you.”
After hanging up the phone, Betty walked to the dining room.
In the dining room, Kerwin was eating porridge. Seeing Betty, he asked, “What’s wrong?”
Betty guessed that he might have seen her on the phone near the staircase, but she didn’t know what to say, so she just said, “Something happened at my company. It’s nothing important.”
It wasn’t that Betty was trying to hide her mother from Kerwin, but she didn’t know how to explain
it to him.
Should she just tell him that her mother was seriously ill and needed money for medical care?
It sounded like she was asking Kerwin for money.
Although Betty and Kerwin were already married, and she had become somewhat dependent and close to Kerwin, Betty still couldn’t manage to show her vulnerability in front of him.
Maybe it was because her mother told Betty from an early age that even if everyone laughed at her for being a fatherless and illegitimate child, she couldn’t show her weakness and let others make
fun of her.
Looking at Betty’s evasive gaze, Kerwin remained silent.
He knew about her mother’s condition, but he didn’t want to offer help, for he knew she was very
sensitive and stubborn. And he was afraid of ruining the trust between the two of them.
Therefore, he decided to take his time and not scare her away.
Kerwin smiled bitterly in his heart.
He didn’t expect him to be so emotional because of Betty when he was so decisive and never hesitated in the business world.
“Let’s eat,” he said. “After breakfast, I’ll walk you to the subway station.”
Betty nodded. She was relieved that Kerwin didn’t insist on walking her to the office.
Does this mean that I started to think from her perspective too?
Then she took the subway to the magazine office. Before Betty could sit down, the secretary told her that Jeffrey wanted to talk to her.
Betty’s heart sank.
Since Betty and Jeffrey had returned from their business trip to Houston, Jeffrey had not been bothering her much. She also wondered why he would call her over to talk at this time.
Then she went to Jeffrey’s office.
“Mr. Martin, did you need me for something?”
n
Jeffrey looked at Betty with a cold expression and said, “Betty, I heard that you got your salary early again this month, right?”
Betty said, “Yes. I need money.”
Jeffrey sneered. “To do what?”
Betty’s fingertips trembled as she said in’a cold voice, “I already talked to the finance office, Mr. Martin, are you crossing the lines?”
“What’s wrong? Is it that hard for you to talk about?” Jeffrey became more and more sarcastic with Betty.
Betty took a deep breath and said, “I want to buy a handbag, the latest limited edition that just came out recently. If I don’t pick up my paycheck early, I’m not able to buy it.”
Since Jeffrey reckoned her as a gold digger, let him be.
Listening to Betty’s dismissive tone, Jeffrey couldn’t help but clench his hands and then sneer. “It’s just a handbag. Did those men of yours refuse to buy it for you?”
Betty thought she had become stronger. Even though Jeffrey insulted her with such repulsive words, she started to become numb.
“Betty, why don’t you say something?” Jeffrey suddenly stood up and raised his voice. “I asked you where are your men? Or did they just disappear after sleeping with you?” From NôvelDrama.Org.
Betty was running out of patience and frowned.
Is Jeffrey going crazy?
“Mr. Martin, if I can’t get my salary in advance, then that’s fine.” Betty became impatient. “If you don’t have anything else to say to me, I’ll leave now.”
Betty turned around to leave, but she didn’t expect Jeffrey to stand up and slam something in Betty’s face!
“Betty, can you please explain to me what these items are!”
Betty froze when she looked at the things that hit her face. Suddenly, her face was pale as she trembled
Those items were photos. Those photos were blurry and secretly taken, but she could recognize the person in those photos was her.
In the pictures, she was lying on the bed, disheveled and flushed.
And anyone could see what she was doing.
Betty’s mind went blank.
She could recognize that those photos had been taken two years ago
“Where did you get those pictures?” Betty snapped as she held those photos and stared at Jeffrey.
What happened two years ago had always been a nightmare for Betty. After all these years, she always felt that it was all behind her.
However, she didn’t expect someone to take pictures of that night! In this way, what happened back then seemed to have become a permanent scar. It was a scar that she could not get rid of for the rest
of her life!
“What’s wrong? Betty, are you scared?” Looking at her pale face, Jeffrey couldn’t help but sneer. “Why did you do that filthy deed in the first place?”
At that moment, Jeffrey’s insult made her feel agitated and depressed.
“Jeffrey, I have nothing to do with you. It’s none of your business,” Betty said in a cold voice. “Just tell me where the hell did you get these pictures? Who took them? Who gave them to you?”
Jeffrey’s heart did a flip, but as his eyes fell on the explicit photos, he burned with anger.
“Who took them? Shouldn’t you know the best in your heart? Why are you still asking me!” Jeffrey looked at Betty with mockery and disdain. “Or have you used this trick so many times that you can’t remember when and who took those pictures for you?”
