Chasing My Ex-wife Back

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Hailey stared at Vanessa who was smirking and subsequently placed her hand on her belly. She stared at Connie who had smiles all over her face, then back at Vanessa.

Hailes opened her mouth to say something. Her lips moved but no words came out.

“What the hell are you talking about?” She finally found her voice wondering why her heart ached so much from the news she just heard. But a part of her secretly hoped that she properly heard wrong or that they were lying.

“I am sure you heard me but I don’t mind saying it again. I’m carrying Cole’s child.”

“Look, I am not in the mood for any of your tricks, you all should take your leave.”

“I was right all along. You pretend as though you don’t like Cole and you don’t care about him. But look at you looking so pained about the whole situation. Have you forgotten that Cole has always been your sister’s man?”

“Don’t you dare raise your voice at me in my building!” Hailey glared at her stepmother.

“Urgh, don’t try to hold back your tears. You know how much I love to see you miserable” Vanessa mocked and she and her mother burst into a piece of satisfied laughter.

“You all came here in disguise using false IDs and you expect me to believe a word that comes out of your filthy mouth?” Hailey challenged.

“Oh baby, we knew you were going to have doubts so we came really prepared,” Connie said confidently and signaled at Vanessa.

Vanessa reached for her handbag on the sofa and took out a white envelope.

“Here!” She stretched it out to Hailey who refused to accept it.

“Come on, accept it, and see for yourself. I admit that we are in here because of our fake IDs but do you think are capable of faking hospital results? Connie said.

Seeing that Hailey said nothing or made any move, Connie took the envelope from Vanessa, took out the test result, opened it, and flaunted it at her, making sure she saw the results against her will.

“My daughter is having a baby. Not just any baby, but the heir to Matthis.empire. This is more than enough to put you in your place, right!” Connic mocked.

“I wish you could see the joy in Cole’s eyes when the Doctor announced that we were pregnant. Oh, let me give you the full story of how it went. I was feeling a bit sick, I passed out, he got scared and took me to the hospital. Then the doctor gave us the news.”

“Mom and Dad are excited to be grandparents. And you should be excited to be an aunt too. Even though I wouldn’t want you to be around my baby and my husband. And yes, Cole and I will be getting married in a few weeks. Just before my belly starts to show.”

Hailey swallowed painfully, trying to compose herself. “What do I have to do with all that you’ve said?”

“This is just a clapback. A warning to you that we always win and you shouldn’t mess with us. Connie smirked. “Yeah, and we love to see you miserable so we are more than happy to throw this good news at your face.

Hailey chuckled in disbelief. “You always see the need to want to prove a stupid point even when it has nothing to

do with me

“I don’t care it you are betrothed to marry Cole and I see no reason why you are here to flaunt your pregnancy news with me. I am sure you would prefer to put the news out on social media. There is no point being here.”

“Of course there is and that is why I’m here. This is going to be the last time I am going to warn you to stay away from my man. Cole, myself and this little one, Vanessa pointed to her belly. “Are going to be a happy family. And if you ever come between us, I am going to let the whole world know how much of a home wrecker you are!”

“Get the hell away from my office!!!”

Connie and Vanessa turned to face each other and started giggling. Hailey wasn’t shedding tears and in as much as she hid her emotions well, they could tell that she wasn’t happy so that gave them a vibe that their mission was accomplished.

Hailey was about to say something else but her eyes landed on two hefty security men who got out of the elevator and walked towards them.

“Please throw them out!”

The two hefty men wasted no time in shooing Connie and Vanessa toward the elevator.

“Hey, she’s pregnant! Be careful how you push her. The baby’s father is going to sue you if anything should happen to his wife or baby. Connie said at the top of her voice as the securities weren’t

going easy on them.

Hailey stormed back into her office.

“No, Hailes, you are not going to shed any tears. No, no, don’t you dar…… Hailey rushed over to her desk, reached for a tissue, and immediately wiped tears from the corner of her eyes. She reached for her phone on the desk and dialed her best friend immediately.

“I told you, Debbie. I told you that Cole is nothing but a fucking asshole! I can’t believe I was so close to letting him into my Sons‘ life.” Hailey had no idea when tears started rolling down her cheeks.

“What’s wrong babes? How did your meeting with Cole go?” The worry didn’t go unnoticed in Debbie’s voice.

“Guess who just left my office?”

“Cole?”

“Vanessa and her fucking mother.”

“They came with fake IDs so they would be allowed in. Vanessa is pregnant with Cole’s child. They came to throw it at my face.”

“What?!” Debbie voiced out in shock.

“I told you Cole was an asshole. That is why I wanted to keep Ollie and Enzo away from him.”

“But how come?”

“They obviously fucked each other and that is why she is pregnant with his baby. I feel so disgusted with myself. I feel so disgusted that I ever had anything to do with someone like Cole. I mean, he

claims to love me but he is still

screwing my step–sister!

“Please calm down. Babe”

“No. Hailey sniffled. “I feel so stupid for setting up a lunch date with him. I even feel more embarrassed that I promised my sons they are going to see their Dad this weekend. Enzo was even pleading with me if Cole could take them to the park. I told him I was going to think about it. But the plan was that Cole would convince them to play at hom in the garden. I don’t want them out with him yet because of the media.”

“Now my kids are going to think I’m a liar and they would never believe any word that comes from my mouth again. Hailey sniffled.

“No. babe. Please calm down. You said they came in with fake IDs. What if the news is fake.”

“Come on, Deb. No one is going to lie about having a baby.”

“We both know your evil stepmom and sister. If they can treat you like shit, then this is just a piece of cake for

them.

“They came with the pregnancy result. I didn’t want to look at it but they shoved it down my face.”

“These things can be forged, babe.”

“Why are you so on Cole’s side? I believe this is my fault. I shouldn’t have let you talk me into setting up a meeting with him to discuss how he can see the boys.” This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“I’ve got your back always, baby. I just know how extreme these people can be. Cole can’t be screwing your sister and be seeking forgiveness from you at the same time.”

“So what now? You know him more than me?”

“No babe, I don’t know why I have some faith in him. I would like you to do the same thing?”

“That report was from Saint Mary’s Hospital. It was signed.”

“I know someone there, I can call in to see if it’s fake.” Debbie offered.

“Stop messing with my head, please. I’ve been in the business world long enough to know when a fake document is presented before me. And I am not that jobless and desperate. It sounds really disgusting to start investigating if a pregnancy result is real or not.”

“I understand how you feel and I am so sorry that all of this is going on. But I still think you should hear from Cole’s mouth. Don’t bottle up all this anger in you. Confront him and let him tell his own part of the story.”

“No.” Hailey shook her head even though Debbie couldn’t see her. “There is no way I am going to be in the same space with that asshole. I don’t want to see him and I don’t want to have anything to ever do with him.”
