Chapter 19
Chapter 19
"Lucy, what's that supposed to mean?" The word "sister" had made Lizbeth feel very uncomfortable. "You're not going to apologize for slapping me?"
"I'm really sorry for slapping you, Miss Byrd," Lucy apologized with zero sincerity, got up, and walked out.
Every time she and Lizbeth had a dispute, Arthur would make her apologize anyway.
Wasn't it just an apology? What was the big deal?
Although she thought so, why did she still feel so hurt?
"Lucy, stop right there!" Arthur was slightly pissed off. Shouldn't she apologize for slapping someone?
Moreover, he didn't share a romantic relationship with Lizbeth at all. So, why did Lucy always treat Lizbeth with such hostility?
Lucy acted as if she hadn't heard anything and continued walking away.
Being ignored like that, Arthur's eyes flashed, and he chased after her.
"Arthur, what are you..."
Before Lizbeth could finish her sentence, Arthur cut her off with a stony expression. "From now on, you're not allowed to enter my office!"
If Lucy really was that bothered, then he would see Lizbeth as seldom as possible!
"Arthur!" Lizbeth called out miserably, but Arthur didn't slow down at all. He rushed after Lucy.
The pain on her cheek was still reminding her of the fact that she had gotten slapped, and she wept while cupping it.
Why couldn't Arthur notice her no matter what she did?
Why couldn't Arthur notice her no matter what she did?
She didn't want to be treated like his sister, but his woman. She wanted to admire him openly every day and tell him she loved him!
Arthur only managed to stop Lucy in front of the elevator. His anger dissipated when he saw the tears on her face, and he felt his heart ache.
He wanted to protect her and make sure she didn't feel sad again, but he still ended up hurting her...
Lucy shook off his hand, entered the elevator, and pressed the button for the first floor.
Before the elevator doors closed, Arthur reached his hand between the doors and strode inside, standing beside her.
They were alone in the CEO's exclusive elevator, but they both said nothing. Their expressions were stony and the atmosphere was inexplicably tense.
Arthur glanced down at Lucy, who was on his left. Her long hair was covering her face, and he couldn't see her expression clearly. Nevertheless, he could sense her unhappiness. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
He wanted to break the silence, but he didn't know how.
Since he was a child, he had always been popular in the business world and in relationships. He only needed to accept others' flattery.
He didn't need to please others at all, nor would he ever do so.
Ding!
When the elevator reached the first floor, Lucy walked out first, and he followed closely behind her.
When the employees at Johnson Group saw their CEO trailing after a woman like a wounded puppy, they all felt incredibly shocked. Their eyes were as round as saucers.
Their CEO had so many admirers...and yet, he needed to kiss up to a woman?
"I'll drive you to your office." When they reached the doors, Arthur held her wrist and gave in first, although a little unnaturally.
However, his indifferent and handsome face made him look as if he were extorting money from her.
Lucy pursed her lips and let him lead her to the Bentley.
So what if she didn't like him and wanted to escape him? His simple threat to ruin Kylah's family's
business was enough to render her helpless!
Seeing that she no longer refused him and was listening to him compliantly, Arthur felt joy seep into his heart.
She...still liked him, didn't she?
Arthur opened the car door and gestured for her to get in. However, when she bent down, her red hair swayed to the side, and he spotted the obvious hand mark on her cheek.
"What happened to your face?" He grabbed her wrist.
