Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel)

Chapter 91

"Hello," Castiel said.

"I know this might not sit well with you, but Niamh is out for good as far as our family is concerned!" Renee said bluntly. Her daughter-in-law had been a thorn in her side for years, and now that she finally had a chance to get rid of her, she wasn't about to let it go. Castiel's tone was less than pleasant. "So, who is it that you're willing to accept? Naomi Lawson?"

"That's right!" Renee responded sharply, her tone mirroring Castiel's. If you'd just done as I said and married Naomi back then, we wouldn't -be in this mess!"

Castiel was rendered speechless.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

"Listen here; Naomi's been waiting for you all these years. No matter what, you need to give her a proper response this time!"

Castiel could feel a headache coming on. In the past, when Niamh was considerate and caring, he could calmly weather any storm. But now, even the slightest breeze was enough to send him into a tempest.

Verily, "happy wife, happy life" had a ring of truth to it.

"Since you're so fond of Naomi, I'll let you give her a proper response."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Renee fumed on the other end of the line.

Castiel explained, "I'm afraid I can't give Naomi a proper response. I have no intention of divorcing Niamh. Since you feel strongly about Naomi, perhaps you sho sort it out yourself. I won't stand in your way if you want to spend the rest of your life with her." "You insolent child! You must be out of your mind-"

His mother was still yelling on the other end of the line, but he had already ended the call. He had always known what his mother was like, yet he had let Niamh live at Jamison Manor.

He had assumed that Niamh's good temperament would help her navigate these challenges and that his family would eventually accept her, believing they had always gotten along well. But now, he realized just how much Niamh had suffered at his mother's hands. He had grossly underestimated his mother. He couldn't believe she was still able to make such a demanding call after such an

embarrassing episode. This was beyond what an ordinary person could manage.

Shortly after Niamh left Maplewood, Quinn picked her up. While Niamh was in the car, Castiel called and demanded, "Where are you?"

"What, are you going to crash our car as well? So much for the Jamisons being gentlemen, huh?" she mocked.

He had always been so gentle before her; she was shocked that he would completely lose his cool and crash into someone else's vehicle just because she got into their car.

It never occurred to her that Castiel could be capable of such behavior. Niamh had seriously underestimated him.

"We need to talk, Niamh." His voice was strained over the line. The fact that he had gone out of his way to bring her home that day was meant to indicate his willingness to compromise on their recent issues.

Despite his attempt to comp ise, her beautiful eyes remained cold and distant. "I have nothing to say to you," she said before hanging up

on him.

Their relationship had deteriorated to the point where Castiel would hang up on Renee just as Niamh would hang up on him.

Niamh had once been the most tenderhearted among them. Now, she was the most unyielding and cold. This drastic change had caught everyone off guard.
