BIT 89

Rebecca’s mind raced. She couldn’t believe her ears. Harvey was on the same plane, on a honeymoon with Alicia! Her pulse quickened, and she felt a mix of emotions: shock. confusion, anger, jealousy, and a lingering sadness. She had to compose herself for Lily and Sean.

“Becky, are you okay?” Sean asked, noticing her pale face and tense posture.

Rebecca forced a smile and nodded. “Yeah, just tired, I guess. Long day.”

Sean seemed unconvinced but didn’t push the matter. “Alright, try to get some rest. We have a big adventure ahead of us.”

Rebecca reclined her seat and closed her eyes, but sleep wouldn’t come. She couldn’t stop thinking about Harvey and Alicia. How could everything be so coincidental? Are they also heading to the same place as her?

The more she thought about it, the more her heart ached. She knew she couldn’t waste that opportunity. They were at a high altitude, and Harvey would no longer be able to escape. She must get answers to all the questions that haunt her mind. She had to face him, and confront her feelings, but how?

Hours passed, and the plane began its descent into Italy. Rebecca had barely slept. She glanced at Sean, who was sound asleep, and then at Lily, who was peacefully dozing in her bassinet. She decided to take a walk to clear her head.

Carefully unbuckling herself, she made her way to the back of the plane, hoping to avoid any confrontation with Harvey. She needed a moment alone to process. everything.

As she reached the galley, she heard soft murmurs. Peeking around the corner, she saw Harvey and Alicia engrossed in conversation. Alicia’s laughter rang out, and it pierced Rebecca’s heart like a dagger. She quickly ducked back, hoping they hadn’t seen her. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Just as she was about to retreat to her seat, Harvey’s voice called out in a whisper, “Becky?” He got up to his feet and walked over to her, leaving Alicia, who was busy with her phone.

She froze, her heart pounding. Slowly, she turned around to face him. “Harvey,” she acknowledged her voice barely above a whisper.

Harvey’s eyes widened in surprise, then softened with a mix of emotions. “What are your doing here?”

Rebecca felt a surge of anger. “I could ask you the same thing. On a honeymoon, huh? It’s funny, isn’t it? We married together and are now on the same plane. Is there something wrong with all this, or is this really a curse for me?” She couldn’t keep the bitterness out of her voice.

“Becky…” Harvey let out a long sigh, wiping his face with his hand. “I know you have many questions in your head, and I can’t give you all the answers, but I wanted to assure you that it’s not what you think,” Harvey began, but she cut him off.

“Not what I think? You’re on a honeymoon, Harvey! As if you’re enjoying your marriage with that bitch who is always trying to destroy my life! After everything we went through, don’t ask me why we’re on this plane too. We’re just trying to escape from your family’s terror!” Her voice was shaking.

Harvey looked down, his expression hurt. “I didn’t have a choice, Becky. There are things you don’t understand.”

Becky felt tears welling up. “Explain it to me, then. Make me understand why you abandoned us and why you left me and Lily without a word. Don’t you know how messed up our lives are? I’ve lost everything–you, my friends, my freedom! I only have Lily, and I married Sean because I believe Lily would need a dad!”

Harvey stepped closer, his voice low and urgent. “I can’t explain everything right now. But believe me, it wasn’t my choice. I had to protect not only you and Lily but also someone else…”

“Someone else who? Protect us from what, Harvey? No one listens to us right now, just be honest!” She demanded, her frustration boiling over.

“It’s complicated, Becky, I can’t explain it to you right now. I’m sorry,” he said, his voice breaking.

Rebecca’s anger faltered. She could see the pain in his eyes, but it didn’t erase the hurt he had caused. “You should have trusted me. We could have faced it together.”

Harvey reached out, but Rebecca stepped back. “I wanted to, but I couldn’t risk your safety. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it was the only way to keep you safe.”

Rebecca shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “You don’t get to decide what’s

best for me or Lily. You left us, Harvey. And now you’re here with Alicia, pretending like none of it matters.”

Harvey’s shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry, Becky. I never wanted to hurt you. I thought I was doing the right thing.”

Rebecca wiped her tears angrily. “You should have fought for us, for our family. Instead, you ran.”

There was a long silence between them, filled with unspoken words and unresolved feelings. Finally, Rebecca took a deep breath. “I can’t do this right now. I need to get back to my seat.”

Harvey nodded, his expression defeated. “I understand. But please know, I never stopped loving you or Lily.”

Rebecca turned away, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions. As she walked back to her seat, she couldn’t help but wonder if she would ever truly understand why Harvey had made the choices he did..

Back at her seat, Sean was awake, holding Lily and looking concerned. “Everything okay?”

Rebecca nodded, forcing a smile. “Yeah, I just needed a moment.”

Sean studied her face, sensing there was more to the story, but he didn’t press. “Alright. We’re almost there. Let’s focus on making this trip meaningful for us.”

Rebecca took a deep breath, grateful for Sean’s support. She had to put her past with Harvey behind her, at least for now, and focus on the present. Italy was a fresh start, a chance to build new memories with Sean and Lily.

She hoped Harvey and Alicia weren’t heading to the same place as her. She looked at Sean who was giving Lily milk and her head was filled with all of Harvey’s confessions earlier. After avoiding it many times Harvey finally said that he had every reason for his actions. Should she believe the words of a man who has betrayed her twice?
