BIT 74

Chapter 74

Rebecca felt her entire body trembling, and her heart was racing. All her emotions were jumbled up in her chest. She read the message again and became extremely angry.

“The baby?” she muttered in disbelief. “Can’t he refer to our baby? Has he really forgotten about me and Lily?”

She gripped her phone so tightly that her palm hurt. Suddenly, her body felt so light that it seemed her feet were no longer touching the ground. For the first time since Harvey left her, she felt numb as if all emotions had been drained from her chest.

Then she heard Lily’s loud cries. She stood up quickly and without enthusiasm, picked Lily up from the crib.

“Hey, sweetheart, are you thirsty?” she asked, smiling at Lily as if nothing had happened. After giving Lily some milk, she opened her phone again and blocked Harvey and Alicia’s accounts on social media.

She left the room, carrying Lily, and ran into Sean, who was coming from the opposite direction. “Hey, how was your nap?” Sean asked, his face looking fresh as if he had just splashed water on it.

“Not bad,” Rebecca replied, smiling. She wouldn’t let Harvey, Alicia, Victoria, or anyone else control her mood.

“Coffee?” Sean asked, slipping into the bar.

“Yes, please!”

Rebecca flopped down on the sofa with Lily in her arms. She turned on the TV and sat relaxed, as if she were living her perfectly normal life.

“Here.” Sean came over, placing Rebecca’s latte on the table before sitting next to her. He stared at Rebecca for a moment, sensing something was off about her.

“Everything okay, Becky?”

Rebecca looked up, smiling too broadly to hide her emotions. “Yeah, all good!” she said, giving a thumbs up.

“No, it’s not. Are you sure?” Sean asked, raising an eyebrow.

Rebecca fell silent, looking down at Lily for a moment before saying, “Harvey sent me a direct message earlier, saying that Lily and I shouldn’t have come back here, and he even referred to Lily as “The Baby‘ instead of Our Baby‘. Isn’t that crazy? I was so angry and disappointed, but I know such emotions will only harm me, so now I think I’m pretty stable.”

Sean nodded.

“You know you don’t have to hide anything in this house. Just be yourself. You can be angry, you can cry, you can laugh, you can let out all your emotions here and only put on that mask when you’re in front of people. If you keep holding your emotions in, you’ll go crazy eventually,” he said casually.

“Sometimes I hate myself for being so weak that they can easily play with me, but I won’t let that happen again,” Rebecca murmured.

Suddenly, the TV channel showed a gossip news segment, and Rebecca’s face was prominently displayed between Alicia and Harvey, as if she were the third party between them.

New York is buzzing! Rebecca Harper returns to New York after Harvey Specter and Alicia Fox announce their wedding plans!‘

“Bullshit!” Rebecca shouted. Sean quickly took Lily from her arms and moved her to the sofabed.

“Rebecca Harper? I haven’t even received the divorce decree! Why are they calling me by my maiden name? And what did they say? I came back because I heard Harvey and Alicia were getting married. What ridiculous news!” Rebecca ranted, her face red. She felt free to express her anger after Sean had repeatedly assured her to be herself.

Sean sighed deeply.

“Maybe we should contact the law firm handling your divorce, just in case the decree is indeed finalized,” he suggested calmly.

Rebecca was stunned,

“Could it be processed that quickly?” she asked, unsure.

“Almost unbelievable, but they have access to the court, so it’s possible,” Sean replied, somewhat doubtful.

Rebecca hurriedly reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone, and called the Specter family’s law firm.

“I’m Rebecca Harper, calling to inquire about my divorce case with Harvey Specter. Has the decree been issued?” she asked quickly.

A few minutes later,

“How was it?” Sean asked after Rebecca ended the call.

Rebecca swallowed hard, “Harvey expedited the process because we both agreed to the divorce and our decree just came through today…”

“Do you feel relieved or disappointed?” Sean asked curiously as if nothing was holding him back from asking any question.

Rebecca took a deep breath, feeling something huge stuck in her throat. “I don’t know. All I know is that after this, everything will truly change. I can’t even describe my feelings right now,” she said, not bothering to hold back the tears streaming down her cheeks.

“Are you tired? I mean, if you’re not tired, I’d like to take you somewhere,” Sean said as he grabbed the remote and turned off the TV

“Not really, where do you want to take me?” Rebecca asked, not too interested. If she followed the demon screaming in her head, she would love to buy a gun and go see Harvey, Alicia, and Victoria, then shoot them one by one.

“You’ll see. You can get ready now; I’ll take care of Lily,” Sean said as he looked down at Lily, who was busy in her own world.

Rebecca frowned but didn’t ask further. She stood up, kissed Lily on the head, and hurried back to her room. She stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection, and the anger suddenly resurfaced.

She hated being played. She hated that Harvey made her believe their relationship was real. Quickly, she opened her walk–in closet, chose a bright red dress, then sat in front of her vanity and applied the same red lipstick.

A few minutes later, she walked confidently on her red stilettos, which echoed on the marble floor of the condo, making Sean turn to her in surprise.

“Wow, all red. Is it a sign of revenge?” Sean commented, mesmerized by Rebecca’s

Rebecca shrugged. “No time for revenge; I have a beautiful daughter to raise,” she replied casually.

Sean smiled slightly. “Alright, I’ll be back in five minutes,” he said, then went to his room and returned five minutes later in trousers and a well–fitted long john.

“Did you pack Lily’s bag?” Sean asked as Rebecca moved Lily into the stroller. “Oh my God, I forgot! Wait, I’ll-”

“No, stay here, I’ll pack it,” Sean interrupted, quickly walking to Rebecca’s room and packing Lily’s bag with milk bottles and diapers.

“Ready to go!” Sean exclaimed with the diaper bag on his back, a small gesture that made Rebecca truly grateful to have met the right person, even if there were no romantic feelings between them.

“So, where are we going?” Rebecca asked once they were in the car.

Sean turned to her, “Vera’s Bridal. You need to fit your dress because we’re getting married the day after tomorrow.”

Rebecca stared at him in shock. “What?”
