BIT 65

Chapter 65

Rebecca looked up, startled. “Are you sure we’re talking about the same person?”

Angela shrugged. “I’m not certain. Her face looks a bit different, but I’m almost sure she used to be my neighbor,” she said, still staring intently at the photo of Victoria.

“You mean your neighbor in Saint Michaels, Mom?” Sean interjected, his brow furrowed.

Rebecca’s eyes widened. “Saint Michaels? Maryland?”

Angela nodded. “Yeah. What? Is your mother–in–law from there too?” she asked, handing Sean’s phone back.

“As far as I know, she’s from Maryland, but I don’t know exactly which city. Is she an only child? Your old friend?” Rebecca inquired, hoping that the person Angela mentioned was indeed Victoria, to help piece together the scattered puzzle.

“Yeah, she’s an only child, but her name isn’t Victoria; it’s Venetia, Venetia Coleman. Do you know your mother–in–law’s maiden name?”

Rebecca shook her head. “I only know she’s an orphan and an only child,” she replied, beginning to doubt if they were talking about the same person.

“Well, Venetia was also an only child, but her mother was still alive when we were neighbors. After I moved here and married Sean’s father, I heard her house burned down. Rumor has it Venetia set the house on fire, killing her mother and stepfather, but I don’t know…

Rebecca felt a shiver run down her spine. “That sounds like Victoria…”

“Okay, enough guessing! I’ll find out about it. So, Becky, stay here until your daughter gets better. Don’t leave the house; you can sit in the backyard if you get bored,” said Thomas, standing up.

“Sean, call me if anything happens. You’re not going back to the clinic, are you?”

Sean glanced at Rebecca briefly before shaking his head. “I’ll stay home for a while; another doctor is covering for me.”

Rebecca was a bit surprised and felt bad for causing trouble for everyone.

After Thomas left, Angela suddenly shouted while pointing at the TV she had just turned on. “Look, Becky!”

Rebecca and Scan rushed to the TV room and were shocked to see Rebecca’s face on the screen.

*Influencer Becky–Blushoff, or Rebecca Specter, is reported to have run off with her daughter from her marriage to Harvey Specter after Harvey filed for divorce for the second time! Sources say that an old flame rekindled between Harvey and Alicia Fox, causing their divorce!

Rebecca felt her whole body tremble at the sight of the news, but Angela quickly hugged her and led her to the couch.

“You did the best by staying away from them. You and Lily deserve a better life,” Angela said gently.

“The thing is, I still can’t believe Harvey would do something so cruel for the second time. He can’t be that powerless, can he? He could have done something to fight for us, but he chose not to. Maybe he really does still love Alicia and wants to be with her, Rebecca said, holding back tears.

Sean took a deep breath and sank onto the couch. “So, Victoria wants to take control of the Specter family fortune, right? But if Harvey is her son, why go through all that trouble? And Harvey’s father, isn’t he still alive? I still don’t understand Victoria’s true motive,” he mused with a deep frown.

“Harvey’s father is just an accessory; he never played any significant role. Before Harvey’s grandfather died, he entrusted all his wealth to Harvey, while the others only got small portions. I’ve never read the will, but I think there’s a reason why Victoria didn’t get rid of Harvey because I’m almost sure Harvey isn’t her biological son,” Rebecca said, staring blankly at the TV, which was still showing other Hollywood celebrity gossip.

“Oh Becky, this divorce isn’t the end of the disaster. If Victoria is after the inheritance, she won’t stop until she ensures that Lily is out of the list of heirs,” Angela blurted out, then covered her mouth as if shocked by her own words.

Rebecca swallowed hard. She already knew that fact, but hearing it from someone else made her feel very scared.

“Mom, you’re scaring her,” Sean said, noticing the change in Rebecca’s expression.

“Oh dear, I’m sorry!d didn’t mean to scare you.” Angela said, holding Rebecca’s cold hands.

Rebecca gave a faint smile. Suddenly, she heard Lily crying through the baby monitor Sean had placed on the dining table earlier.

“Um. Angela, I’m going upstairs to check on Lily. Thank you so much for the tea,” Rebecca said, standing up and smiling warmly at Angela.

“Anytime, dear! Make yourself at home, okay? Please, don’t hesitate to do anything, feel free!” Angela replied cheerfully.

I’ll check on Lily too; she might need something.” Sean said, standing up as well. Rebecca turned around, surprised, momentarily forgetting that Sean was a pediatrician.

“Yes, Becky? Is there a problem?” Sean asked awkwardly.

Rebecca shook her head. “No, she replied, then quickly ran towards the stairs, but Sean suddenly grabbed her hand. “You shouldn’t run too fast; your cesarean stitches…”

Rebecca nodded awkwardly. “Yeah, you’re right.

They entered the room together to check on Lily. “I think she’s hungry, Sean

murmured as he sprayed disinfectant on his hands, then opened the phototherapy box and took Lily out.

“Hey, little pumpkin, you’re hungry, huh?” he cooed like a father talking to his daughter.

Rebecca was stunned at the scene in front of her. For a moment, she imagined that Sean was Harvey. She felt very sad because Harvey had never even held Lily since she was born.

“Becky?” Sean called, waving his hand in front of Rebecca’s face.

“Yeah?” Rebecca looked up, surprised.

“The milk, I think she is hungry, Sean said amidst Lily’s loud cries.

“Oh, of course! Sorry, I’ll be quick!” Rebecca exclaimed. She closed her eyes tightly, then shook her head, pushing away all thoughts of Harvey that filled her mind.

While preparing milk for Lily, she secretly watched Sean cradling Lily with warmth as if they had known each other for a long time.

“You seem very used to taking care of babies, Rebecca murmured while shaking the milk bottle in her hand. “Well, of course you are, you’re a pediatrician,” she added, feeling silly about her own statement.

Sean chuckled, “That’s not the only reason,” he replied without taking his eyes off Lily. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Rebecca frowned. “Yeah?”

“I once had a little baby girl,” Sean said as he handed Lily over to Rebecca.

Rebecca frowned. “What do you mean? Where is she now?”

Sean sighed deeply, his face suddenly gloomy. “She died.”

Rebecca’s eyes widened in shock.

“What?”
