Harvey walked closer to Rebecca, causing Jacob to frown in confusion. He looked Berween Rebecca and Harvey. “Becky, is there a problem?” he whispered.
“You’re the problem.” Harvey said coldly, staring at Jacob.
“Harvey, what’s wrong with you? He is my friend for God’s sake!” Rebecca snapped
tably. Jacob, I think Erica is looking for you,” she said, pointing at the cashier. “Really? Jacob was unsure but he left anyway. Rebecca didn’t want Jacob to hear their ridiculous conversation.
“Why did he go into your apartment? Do you two live together?” Harvey asked irritably.
Rebecca frowned. “It’s none of youness. Look at you! A few minutes ago, you were so composed, and now you look like a jealous teenager,” she said, grabbing her bag, ready to leave.
But Harvey grabbed her hand. “Where are you going? You can’t avoid me like this!”
Rebecca yanked her hand away, her eyes blazing with anger. “I’m going home, Harvey. And you have no right to stop me.”
Harvey’s expression softened, the irritation giving way to desperation. “Please, Becky. I just want to talk. I need to understand what’s going on.”
Rebecca took a deep breath, trying to keep her composure. “What’s going on is that I’ve moved on. You can’t just waltz back into my life and expect things to be the same. I’ve wasted my time and I don’t want to do that
at again.”
Jacob, who had been watching the exchange from the counter, approached cautiously. “Becky, do you need help?” he asked, his voice calm but firm.
Rebecca gave him a grateful look. “It’s okay, Jacob. I can handle this.”
Harvey glanced at Jacob, his jaw tightening. “I don’t need you interfering,” he snapped.
Jacob stood his ground, his eyes locked on Harvey. “I’m not interfering. I’m making sure Becky is okay. You’re the one causing a scene.”
Rebecca stepped between them, her voice cold. “Enough, both of you. Harvey, if you really care about me, you’ll respect my decision and leave me alone.”

Harvey’s shoulders sagged, the fight draining out of him. “I just wanted to talk,” he murmured.
“We’ve talked enough.” Rebecca replied, her tone softer but still firm. “Now, please go.”
Harvey looked at her for a long moment, then nodded reluctantly. “Alright, Becky. I’ll go. But this isn’t over.”
Rebecca took a deep breath as she watched Harvey walk away. She felt a pang of longing and confusion but knew she needed to stay strong.
Jacob; I’ll go upstairs,” she said and left the café. Suddenly, a question crossed her mind. She quickly half–ran after Harvey and intercepted him, surprising him.
“You changed your mind?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with hope.
Rebecca shook her head, her breath still short. She swallowed hard, then looked up Harvey’s eyes. “I want to ask about Mia. Is she okay?”
Harvey looked surprised. He gazed at Rebecca, trying to understand what was going through her mind. “You still think about the person involved in the crime you experienced? Do you really care, or are you just curious?” he asked flatly.

Rebecca waved her hand dismissively. “You know what? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” she said irritably. She turned to return to her apartment, but Harvey pulled her tightly, making her fall into his arms.
They looked at each other in silence, emotions intensifying.
Rebecca hurriedly pulled away, clearing her throat nervously.
Harvey scratched his forehead, looking awkward. “Mia is in the same prison as Alicia. If she gets out sooner than she should, it must be my parents‘ doing. I had no involvement. I’m as angry as you are. Even though she’s my sister, that doesn’t change the fact that she’s guilty.”
Rebecca nodded slowly, processing Harvey’s words. “I’m glad to hear you’re not involved in that mess,” she said quietly. “But it doesn’t change what happened, Harvey. It doesn’t erase the pain.”
Harvey’s shoulders sagged with the weight of his regret. “I know, Becky. I know.”
Rebecca nodded, then turned and walked slowly back to her apartment. She knew Jacob

No, Im going to stay here, no more running away,” said Rebecca, even though she was wded to death.
After taking a deep breath, she slowly opened the door. Victoria immediately pushed her way in and slapped Rebecca hard across the cheek, drawing fresh blood from the corner of her lips. Rebecca trembled, holding back tears.
Harvey quickly ran to Rebecca, shielding her from his mother, who was still seething with anger. “Mom! Stop it! STOP!” Harvey shouted in despair, unable to strike his own mother. He stood there, protecting Rebecca, becoming her shield, and endured his mother’s punches and blows.
“How can you be so shameless! You threw my beloved daughter in prison, and now you’re trying to manipulate my son again? You’re even worse than Alicia, you should know that!” Victoria raged, her voice filled with madness.
“Mom, enough! Enough! Can you stop blaming others for our own sins? I was the one who sought out Becky. I was the one who asked her to come back. So control yourself, or you know what will happen,” Harvey threatened shakily.
“WHAT WILL HAPPEN? HUH? ARE YOU TRYING TO THREATEN ME?” barked Victoria, still trying to reach Rebecca and slap her.
“I have the authority to manage grandfather’s inheritance. I can remove anyone from the list of heirs at any time,” Harvey said coldly. He knew his mother could always be swayed by money, and that was something he was never proud of.
Victoria glared, her eyes nearly popping out. You’ll see, Becky! You’ll never be able to live in peace! I’ll find a thousand Alicias to hurt you!” she hissed hatefully. She spat on Rebecca’s rug and walked away with her chin held high. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

Rebecca searched his eyes, looking for any sign of doubt, but found none. She no slowly, her heart heavy with the weight of their situation. “I don’t know. It feels s wrong. You just came back, and I don’t know if this is too fast!”
She sat limply on the sofa, never imagining that a bad day could be so terrible th there was no room for her to smile. Harvey looked deeply at her, then held both hands. “I know, but I’ve never been more sure than I am today. Are you with me you give it a chance?”
Rebecca gulped, unable to lie to herself. She nodded, but no words came out of mouth.
“I need you to be strong, okay? The real adventure is just about to begin. Everyt will be fine. You can do it, can’t you?” Harvey asked. He wiped her tears and kiss lips gently. “Let’s get married again,” he said firmly.

No, I’m not! I’ar dead serious, he replied, his grip or her hands tightening. “We can leave tonight. I have some money saved up, enough to get us started. We’ll find a place where ito one knows us, where we can be happy
“But what about our jobs? Our friends? Everything we’ve built here?” Rebecca asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
“We’ll figure it out,” Harvey assured her. “We’ll find new jobs and make new friends. As long as we’re together, that’s all that matters.”
Rebecca took a deep breath, considering his proposal. It was a drastic, impulsive step, but maybe it was the only way to escape the toxic influence of Harvey’s family. She nodded slowly, a small spark of hope igniting in her chest. “Okay. Let’s do it.”
It was the bravest and most impulsive decision she had ever made in her whole life.
Harvey’s face lit up with relief and joy. He pulled her into a tight embrace, kissing her forehead. “I promise you, Becky, everything’s going to be alright. We’ll make it through this together. Our bad history won’t be repeated. I’ll make sure of that.”
They spent the next few hours packing essentials and making plans. Harvey called a friend to borrow his car, explaining that they needed to leave town for a while. By midnight, they were on the road, leaving their old lives behind.
As they drove through the night, the tension slowly cased. Harvey kept glancing at Rebecca, reassuring her with smiles and gentle touches. They talked about their dreams, their hopes for the future, and the life they wanted to build together. It felt like an adventure, an exciting journey into the unknown. They kept the topic of Alicia and Nicholas behind. They didn’t want to open that wound again.
“Where should we go first?” Rebecca asked, gazing out at the dark highway stretching before them.
“How about the coast?” Harvey suggested. “I’ve always wanted to live by the ocean.”
Rebecca smiled, imagining the salty breeze and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. “The coast sounds perfect.”
They drove through the night, stopping only for gas and quick snacks. After several hours, they reached a small coastal town named Orien Point at the island’s edge that seemed plucked from a postcard. Quaint houses with colorful facades lined the streets, and the smell of the sea filled the air.

Rebecca couldn’t believe what she had just done. “I need to call Cathy and tell her everything. What happened today is beyond my imagination,” she said, half–choking.
“Do you regret it? We can go back to the city if you want. I don’t want to hold you here unless you want to stay.”
Rebecca let out a long sigh. “Of course, I want to stay. It’s just that it happened in less than twenty–four hours! It’s insane, and honestly, I’m afraid you’re going to change your mind and leave me like before,” she said, half–crying.
Harvey cupped her face and kissed her lips gently. “That won’t happen. I’ll stay by your side. I promise!” he said earnestly. No one knew, but he had been tired of dealing with his crazy family for a long time.
