Chapter 29 Not Very Friendly
Chapter 29 Not Very Friendly
He looked up and kissed Jane on the lips. Jane slowly relaxed and even put her arm around Jeffery's
neck.
She couldn't remember exactly when she had fallen asleep. Anyway, Jeffery kept his word and did not
take the chance to harass her, which made Jane even more like him.
When she woke up the next day and was about to go to the company, Jane wanted to go alone, but
Jeffery didn't agree. Under Jeffery's pressure, she agreed and went with him.
This attracted more attention from his colleagues.
Jane was about to sneak off to the main elevator the moment she entered the company, but was held
back by Jeffery and taken to the president's elevator in front of everyone.
Thinking of the gossipy expressions of these people, Jane frowned uncomfortably, "Mr. Jones, this is
not good. My colleagues will gossip."
"Just let them be. But I do not like people gossiping. If anyone dares, I will show them the
consequences."
Jeffery didn't care at all. After all, this was his territory. If he couldn't even manage his own staffs, as the
boss, I really s*ck.
Jane was helpless. She wanted to say that next time she should‘t arise gossip, but Jeffery drew her
close and kissed her. Jane unconsciously resisted. After all, this was the company, but she could not
free herself from Jeffery's strength
Jeffery did not let go of her until the elevator reached the office floor of the CEO's executive office. By
this time Jane's legs were a little weak. When she got off, her face was still red and she felt a little hot.
Tina saw them coming together, her eyes were evasive and she didn't seem good. When Jane thought
of what had happened yesterday, she understood. But she did not reveal it.
She didn't know if it was because of Jeffery, but no one came to bother her today. She didn't even have
any extra work. She did not overwork today.
The party was at six o' clock in the evening. Time is a little pressing. After thinking for a while, Jane still
was not wearing the clothes Jeffery had prepared for her. She simply wore a chiffon half-sleeved dress.
By the time she took a taxi to the place, it was later than six. She went in. Everyone at present saw her
coming and looked at her strangely.
"Hey, look! This is our campus beauty. Why are you still wearing such shabby clothes after graduating,
just like when you were in school." The classmate who called Jane asked.
Her name was Shona, and her family was engaged in the building business and very rich. She was a
haughty girl. She always looked down on poor students like Jane who had to work weekends to make
ends meet. Their relationship was just normal.
For this reason Jane felt uncomfortable when she was pulled by her suddenly.
She withdrew her arms without anyone's attention, and sat down in the seat assigned. Only then did Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
she notice that Susie and Larry were on her opposite.
She didn't want to come because of Larry.
The facts proved, however, that she could not escape in the end. She had not expected Susie to come
too. Their eyes met, and Jane felt a little uncomfortable.
But someone just wanted to touch the tender spot.
"Oh, I remember Jane and Larry were sweet lovers. We were still waiting to attend your wedding
ceremony, but it dosen't end well. If you two had not broken up, would you have a child by now?"
Shona, sitting beside her, did not think before she mentioned the past without hesitation.
Jane bowed her head and said nothing. She did not even look at Larry or the others.
Susie, on the other hand, pointed her fingers at Jane, and said in a sinister tone, "Then we must ask
what Miss. Carter did to force Larry to break off with her."
"Oh?" Shona showed a gossipy expression. She looked at Jane with her flickered eyes. "Tell me about
it. We will stand by you."
"It is not our turn to tell you. It's better if she tells you everything herself." Susie snorted slightly. Her
expression was full of derision. "All I can say is that Larry dosen't like anyone. Some people may seem
innocent and harmless on the surface, but what they do behind is too dirty."
Susie smiled, as if she wanted to save Jane's face. She did not say it clearly.
But everyone was obviously fascinated by her words, especially the boy next to her, who was
handsome and famous. His casual attitude made people uncomfortable.
This guy was a famous rich boy in Jane's class. His name was Adrian. His family was rich and
powerful, so he was used to misbehaving and no one dared to offend him.
When he was in school, he also chased Jane, but Jane ignored him at that time.
His failure to catch up with Jane was a thorn in his heart. So when he heard others talking about Jane,
he wouldn't miss the chance to join in.
"What do you mean by that? When Jane was at our school, she was a famous and pure school beauty.
How many people chased after her, but failed? I really don't know how lucky you were, Larry."
After Larry finished listening, he took a sip of wine and snorted with a mocking expression, "A pure
campus beauty... Don't joke. I don't know how many men she slept with in one night, but you said she
was pure, haha..."
"If I had known this was going to happen today, there's no way I would have chased her. But if it had
not been for her, I would't have the luck to meet Susie."
Susie was evidently much pleased with Larry's answer. Then he looked at Jane with an air of
provocation. Jane's whole body felt uncomfortable. She couldn't help but frown and ask, "Is it
interesting to slander others to boost yourself? I don't want to say what kind of person you are,
because today is the classmates' gathering and I don't want to embarrass you."
"Too awkward? Who will be more awkward?" Larry grinned, lying through his teeth. "If you had not
climbed into the boss's bed for money, we'd have been married by now, wouldnt' we? I just realized that
in order to get money, you were willing to become Boss's mistress, so I decided to leave. Why did you
betray me and still wanted to say something bad about me?"
When Larry said that she climbed her boss's bed, his voice was exceptionally heavy, successfully
attracting everyone's attention. Jane used to be a goddess in their hearts. Now she was just a joke.
Shona glanced at Jane and hypocritically explained, "No way. Jane had so many pursuers and many of
them were rich , but she wasn't interested in any of them."
