Chapter 37 Sorry,we lost her.
..
A gasp escaped from her lips and she looked at George who was surprised as fuck as she slides to the floor.
George’s jaw dropped in surprise.
No, this isn’t happening.
He slides down to th floor beside her.
The whole world seems distant from him as all he could think of at that moment was Janelle. Janelle and Janelle alone.
He couldn’t speak. He was too surprised to.
People rushed towards them, asking him, calling for help but their words were sounding indistinct.
Janelle head fell back on the floor.
“Janelle!!”he found himself screaming.
Her hands left his shoulder unconsciously as her eyes closes.
A woman crouched down and brought out an hankie and stuffed it in her mouth to stop the bleeding.
She put some tissues in her nose also.
George carried her in his arms and rushed out to his car.
The reporters rushed after him in curiosity.
He placed her at the backseat and quickly went to occupy the driver’s seat.
He ignited the engine and zoomed off like a man who’s gone crazy.
Well, he is crazy. He has a reason to be crazy. His wife us dying… Janelle..
He sobbed quietly passing glances to her at every intervals.
“Janelle please be alright. Janelle please wake up”he sobbed loudly.
Her face has started turning pale and the handkerchief in her mouth is soaked with blood. Same with the tissues in her nose also.
What’s going?
What’s going on?.
He was at the hospital in no time.
“Nurse!, nurse!”he called while running inside the hospital with Janelle’s lifeless body clutched in his arms.
The nurse quickly brought out a stretcher and laid her on it.
He followed them as they wheeled the stretcher to a room but he was stopped from moving further in.
A doctor was summoned upon and he appeared in no time.
George was made to stand outside the room as different nurses goes in and walks out of the room.
He was getting scared. Tears streamed down his face.
He slides to the floor and held his head in his hand. He won’t forgive himself if anything should happen to her. He won’t.
For minutes, hours, the doctor was still inside.
He keeps on hearing voices in the room.
He couldn’t bear it anymore so he stood up and moved to the room.
He’s going to go in there to what’s wrong with his wife.
“George”someone called, stopping him.
He turned and saw his mom.
She scuttled to him and shook their head.
“Don’t. I know you’re hurt, I know but don’t mess things up. Let’s wait and hope everything goes well”
“B.. but, they’ve been there for… for…”he choked on his tears.
“Trust me, George. It’s going to be okay. All she needs of us right now is prayer. Janelle is a strong woman. She will scape through”she cajoled.
She held his hand in hers.
“Let’s give them some space. Let’s go wait in the waiting room”
“No”George sniffed.
“I will stay here. I… I can’t…”he busted into another round of tears.
“George, you don’t trust me?”
“I do!”
“Then, let’s go”
He stared at the room before following his mother to the waiting room.
Few moments later, Janelle’s mom rushed in and ran past them.
George stood up and went after her.
“Oh, Janelle. Why is life so cruel to you?. As a kid you’ve suffered greatly and now, you’re…”she stood in front of the door.
“You’re behind this door again. It’s all my faults. It’s all my faults. I should have protected you more, I…”she cried out.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
George’s mom placed a hand on her shoulder.
“She’s going to be fine”
“No!. I nearly lost her before what if I finally lost this time around?”
“Let’s be hopeful”George’s mom says, fighting back her tears.
“Yeah, Janelle will be fine. Also, don’t blame yourself when the fault is all mine. I promise, your daughter will be fine”George assured.
..
He landed several punches on the wall angrily.
God!!!!!
The lady came in.
“Why are you here?”he asked with a deadly glare.
“To collect my $50. You promise you know.”
“I can’t believe you still have the nerve to come here after ruining everything!. Simple task and you failed!”
“Hey!. Is it my fault that the lady drank the wine?, is it?. Well, I think fate holds her death tonight”
He scoffed.
“Just….. just go away or I might really kill you right now”
“What?. You promised, young man. You have to fulfill your promise else I cry I out to the world what you’ve done.”
“You think I will be the only one to carry the blame?. You’re fucking involved also and remember, I can easily dump the whole blame on you so you better leave now before I change my mind”

The three of them sat down, waiting for the doctor to come out.
George would stand up at a time and walked around then come back to sit again.
They were all restless.
“She will be fine, right?”George asked standing up again.
At this point, no one could answer him..
He walked to the end if the room and came back to take his seat again.
He buried his face in his palm.
She would be fine. He reassured himself. She would. She’s a brave woman, she would be fine.
They heard footsteps and they all looked up and seeing the man in a white coat, they sprang up and rushed to him.
+ How is she?+
+Is she fine?, can we see her?+
+ Doctor, please… talk to us+
The doctor sighed and shook his head.
“I’m sorry, we tried our possible best but then, it’s such a pity. A saying goes thus:man saves but God heals.”
Janelle’s mother moved back slowly.
George’s mother turned her face sideways and busted into tears.
George stood transfixed.
“What happened, doctor, don’t tell me…”
“I’m sorry, but, we lost her”
