At the call of the moon

Epilogue chapter 10 and end

– I think my water just broke.

Immediately, Carter lifted her off the floor and ran to the common room, calling for the healers in a panic. The healers then redirected them to the delivery room where Lexa was quickly dropped off, spreading her thighs. Immediately, Lassa, the midwife, turned pale:

– The babies are coming right now. Lexa wanted to sit up, struggling against the healers wanting to keep her on the delivery table, panicked, and screamed:

– No, it’s too early!

She doubled over from a contraction, and clung to Carter, tears in her eyes, and her golden vibrations more present than Ever:

– Whatever happens, save our babies, you hear me? Save our babies at all costs, Carter, even if the cost is my life, understand?

The poor, distraught young man could only nod before being pushed out of the room. He felt every contraction coming on, trying to relieve his partner of even a tenth of the pain she was feeling. He tried to reassure her as best he could: everything would be fine. His soul mate would be fine. His son and daughter would be fine. He had to . Because if anything happened to them, he knew he would lose control, and whatever happened, it wouldn’t be pretty. He tried to inhale and exhale as slowly as possible, but in the other room, Lexa let out a scary scream. Immediately, he tensed and even considered breaking down that damn door, but a hand on his arm brought him back to his senses: Ella, John, Caleb, Franklin, Lila, Jamie and Mason had just arrived. The two women took the future father in their arms, wrapping him in their familiar and reassuring scent. Ella whispered, slipping her hand into his:

– How’s Lexa? How’s my baby?

He blinked as another contraction came, and a new cry arose.

– She’s in pain, but she’s holding on. Lexa is strong.

Lila hugged Ella as the rest of the men huddled in the back, uncomfortably.

Another howl rang out, and the bond went silent. Carter rushed to the delivery room, panicked, and almost bumped into Lassa who was just coming out. She grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him inside roughly.

– Don’t worry, especially don’t worry, but there was a little problem.

Carter’s heart skipped a beat, and her tone went low, dangerously low.

– A problem ? Has something happened to my girlfriend or my children?

The midwife raised her hand in a sign of appeasement and whispered:

– Lexa has lost consciousness, and we have to wake her up.

They entered the delivery room, and he thought he saw a scene straight out of a horror movie; the healers hands were covered in blood, and her soul mate lay on the delivery table, legs spread and unconscious. He rushed over to her, taking her face in his hands. She was so pale… Her companion, so strong, so brave… There was not even the shadow of a golden wave left, and anguish gripped her more than ever. Taking a deep breath, he sent a shot of juice through their bond, and the young woman regained consciousness, her amber eyes widening and lighting up the room. She had barely woken up when Lassa ordered her:

– Push, Lexa, push!

Looking confused, but determined, she grabbed Carter’s hand and gasped. Then another, and another, and another. Out of breath, she fell back on the table, moaning:

– I can’t take it anymore, I can’t take it anymore, I’m tired… I can’t take it anymore…

– Come on Lexa, hold on, just a little bit longer, I promise you it’ll be over soon.

Kal, another healer, exclaimed:

– I see one of the heads, that’s it!

– Come on, Lexa, push!

So Lexa pushed, and a scream later her waves became dazzling as cries rose. The new parents began to cry as Lassa laid the newborn on his mother.

– It’s a boy, congratulations. One more push and your daughter is coming.

And indeed, a push and a flash of light later, their daughter was born.

Lexa couldn’t take her eyes off the adorable newborns resting in her arms, just like Carter. All four were evolving in their own bubble, deaf to the dozens of words of congratulations resounding around them. Trembling, the new dad reached out and brushed the soft silver curls covering his son’s head, identical to those covering his twin sister’s head. Both were the living image of their mother with silver hair, their skin already golden and from what Carter could see, their eyes were as amber in color as her partner’s eyes. the vibrations emanating from them, making the room bright as if hundreds of candles had been added to it. Although different from their mother’s, the little girl’s being rainbow, and her twin’s being shimmering silver, they had definitely inherited them from her. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, bursting their little bubble. Lexa said in a hoarse voice:

– Come in !

Immediately, seven heads poked through the door, looking curious. Carter burst out laughing and added:

– Come on, come and see our two little marvels.

– It’s true ? We can ?

Lexa smiled at them:

– Of course, come closer!

Then , jostling each other , all succeeded in entering and approaching the children . John, grinning from ear to ear, grabs his little girl and little son, exclaiming:

– As I thought, real Filarmony! Look at this hair, these eyes, this complexion! These cubs are the worthy descendants of Filarmony, I tell you!

Jamie pushed over and took the newborns from the Alpha, exclaiming:

– They may look like Filarmony, but they are real Masins.

– Anything ! I –

– HM hm !

They immediately turned at the sound of the clearing of their throats, and found themselves nose to nose with Lexa, Lila and Ella staring at them, under the mocking gazes of Caleb, Franklin and Carter. Lexa stretched out her arms, her eyebrows furrowed, and groaned.

– Can I have my children back now or do you prefer to continue your game of “who has the biggest” for a long time?

Red with shame, the two new grandfathers returned the babies to their mother, whose face immediately softened.

– Now that we no longer play with my babies, it is time that we officially present them to you.

Pointing to her daughter first

– This is Ellila Niella Masin Filarmony,

then presenting his son,

– And this is Jahn Keith Masin Filarmony.

With tears in their eyes, Caleb and Franklin gripped the couple’s hands:

– You… gave them Nia and Keith’s names?

A tear rolled down the cheek of the new mom as her companion spoke.

– We didn’t want them to be forgotten. AND like that, they will live a little through our children.

A few hours later, back in their Cabin, Lexa and Carter were watching their newborn babies sleeping, mesmerized by their charm. The young woman leaned on her companion, heaving a sigh of relief.

– And now that everything is over, do you think we can have a normal life, you, me, Ellila and Jahn? After all that’s happened, I find it hard to believe.

He hugged her, his head in her hair, inhaling her scent deeply.

– Normal, maybe not. But we’re going to have a good life, I’m sure of that. you, me, Ellila, Jahn, and the pack, from now on, we’re going to have the best life, I promise you Lexa

Fourteen years later.

Lexa came out of the chalet, a big smile on her face.

– Where are you, sneaky little ones?

Giggles were heard, and just a few seconds later, arms were wrapped around the blonde Alpha’s waist.

– Hi Mom !

– Hi mom!

The twins, Ellila and Jahn cocked their heads to the side, making pleading pouts and puppy eyes, which caused Lexa to burst into a fit of giggles.

– Come on, it’s not so terrible!

Ellila, whose character was stronger than that of her older brother, growled:

– No, but we’re bored, and then, Grandma Ella said that the pie was for us!

Lexa rolled her eyes.

– Yes for all of us, tonight, with your uncle, your father, you, your brother, and me. In addition, it seems to me that you should be training, am I wrong?

They lowered their heads piteously, and Jahn intervened in his soft voice:

– But, mom, we already know all this fighting stuff, and there are no more people who want to train with us.

Lexa couldn’t help smiling and ruffling her children’s silver hair, so similar to hers.

– All right, I’ll go ask your uncle Caleb if it’s true…And if so, we’ll train together, what do you think, Jahni? Ellie?

Ellila remained silent, but her twin seemed very excited by the possibility as he exclaimed:

– Oh yes, mom, please!

Goddess what did he remind her of Carter! She approached her daughter, the one who resembled her the most, both physically and in her strong character, and held out her arms to her:

– Ellie? Please ?

The young girl tried to hide her smile, but couldn’t, so she jumped into her mother’s arms, before heading towards the main lodge, racing her twin. She followed her kids to the big house and Lexa let out a long laugh, telling herself that yes, Carter had been right that night: They really had the best life.
