At the call of the moon

Epilogue chapter 1

TWO YEARS LATER

– Lexa hurry up, they’re here!

Carter is shaking all over, eager to break the news to his family. He and Lexa waited three months to tell, as a precaution, but they couldn’t wait any longer. We knock on the door and he goes to open it, discovering Lila, Jamie and Mason on the doorstep. The little dark-haired woman throws herself on his neck, screaming:

– Carter Morrigan Masin! I hope you have a good excuse for not visiting us for three long months !

then kissing his face:

– I missed you ! and where is Lexa?!

– I am here !

The Masins turned as a single block, and stifled a cry of surprise: in front of them, Lexa stood, one hand resting on her round belly molded by her summer dress.

Jamie could only stammer:

– You… Are you pregnant?!

He didn’t have time to formulate a more elaborate sentence as his wife sped past him, tears rolling down her cheeks:

– Since when ?! when is the term?! girl or boy ? Oh God ! Why didn’t you say anything?

Lexa smiled as she descended the steps, growling as Carter rushed to help her.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

– I’m so sorry Lila, Jaime. This was to prevent a nearby pack from hearing about it and deciding it was time to attack us. (she rubbed her big belly) I’m three months pregnant, so I only have two months left.

Lila made a puzzled face which triggered the hilarity of the young woman.

– Wait… There is no miscalculation?

– Ha ha ha, no, there is no mistake, Lila. Among wolves, a wolf only remains pregnant for five months, which is already quite enough. (she grimaced) I’m already sick of having back pain and looking like a whale.

Her mother-in-law burst out laughing, placing a hand on her arm.

– I understand, I said exactly the same thing during my two pregnancies, but I promise, you forget everything once you hold your baby in your arms.

Lexa’s expression softened at the mention of the baby, which made Carter smile. Ever since she was pregnant, her companion was both terribly sensitive and emotional and fearsome. It was lovely to see how frustrated she was that everyone cared about her and brooded over her, but she bravely endured all the attention for their child. Worst of all were none other than the Filarmony, who overprotected hid poor soul mate so much that she had to refrain from hitting them every time. Ella would bring her daughter strange and smelly concoctions three times a day, and they would then spend ten minutes arguing because the expectant mother refused to swallow them. In the end, Ella left empty-handed but was back a few hours later, new strange liquids under her arm. John and Franklin would roll out a carpet under the young woman’s feet or carry her wherever she went so that those feet never touched the ground, as if the grass itself was angry with Lexa. Obviously all this attention was driving her crazy and she was yelling at them on a regular basis. They all went out together in the sun, after the successive waves of congratulations, and spent an excellent afternoon, barely punctuated by Lexa’s grunts, addressed to the members of the pack who were guarding her a little too closely.

That night, lying in bed next to Carter, Lexa woke up abruptly, assailed by a sudden foreboding. She stood staring blankly for a long time, absolutely terrified because she had caught a glimpse of an horrible future ;
