Chapter 152 Book 2 Chapter 50
Chapter 50
Read Omega’s Possession by Jessica Hall Book 2 Chapter 50 – Harlow POV
Thane had returned back to Elaine’s in a weird mood after he left briefly. He never told us where he was going or why, just abruptly left after Elaine and Charles marked Leo. For years Thane blamed his mother’s death on me and then punished me for it, only to learn it was Leo all along.
So, I knew it was hard for him to accept Leo and forgive him for what Corbin ordered him to do. Thane swore vengeance on those responsible. Instead, he forgave. Decided to let the past remain and let the dead rest. He was choosing to set himself free by forgiving his mother’s murderer and one of the men responsible for framing me.
However, once he returned, Thane remained quiet, watching and contemplating. He looked relieved when I asked him if we could go home. I wanted to go home, desperately so. So once I asked, we helped clean up and pack everything up before fixing the baby carrier into the car. I sat in the back with Scarlet. Leon and Raidon followed behind us in Rhen’s car as we drove across the city.
Thane’s mood, however, made me glance at him nervously. “I have an emergency hearing tomorrow at the council,” Thane speaks, his eyes flicking to mine in the mirror before going back to watching the road.
It still didn’t answer where he went, but I could guess where after what he said that. “Okay,” I tell him.
“I need you to come with me. I need witness statements and will need you to give yours,” Thane tells me.
“For Leo?” I ask, and I watch the way his hands grip the steering wheel tighter, his knuckles pressing beneath the skin. Rhen glances at him nervously when he finally speaks again.
“Yes, for Leo, but that isn’t why I am telling you this,” he says, glancing at me again.
“I want you to mark the rest of our mates tonight, please. I know what you have been through with Corbin’s pack and won’t feel up for it, but I need you to do this, Harlow. I won’t have you vulnerable again. I don’t want you leaving the house unmarked.” Thane tells me, and my lips tug up in the corners.
Ever since I came back, they have treated me like glass. It was slightly annoying because I wanted things to go back to how they were before.
“I can do that,” I chuckle, and Rhen looks over at me and sends me a wink. “That means them remarking you. We need to solidify the bond Harlow,” Thane adds, and I suck in a breath. That did frighten me a little, still remembering the fear I felt when Corbin’s pack forced their marks on me, leaving behind marred skin to haunt me forever.
“Lowe?”
“Yes, I understand,” I tell him. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Tonight! Promise me? I won’t have you at risk. We can’t lose you again,” Thane growls.
“I promise tonight. Just let me settle in first.” I tell him, and he nods his head as he pulls onto our long street. Thane didn’t add anything else, but I could feel he was in a weird mood, so I didn’t press the matter. Trusting that he would tell us when he felt like talking about it.
Once home, I went to settle Scarlet, finally stepping into the nursery and making use of it since the first time she was born. My mates were a little shocked when I headed upstairs instead of to the den. But I wanted our bed, and I wanted Scarlet in hers for once. Knowing my mates were longing for a decent sleep. Once she settled I snuck down to the kitchen and looking for a snack. Finding a mud cake, I cut off a slice and headed back upstairs to hear the shower running. Soft murmurs coming from the bathroom.
Shaking my head, I eat the last bite, deciding to use the shower in Thane’s room. I didn’t feel like having them fuss over every scratch and knew they would.
My heart was racing as I stepped out of the bathroom with just a towel and into the bedroom. All four of them are staring at me, leaning against the headboard. I blink at them.
Such serious expressions on their faces make me wonder if something has happened to Scarlet. ” What? Is Scarlet alright?” I ask in panic. I had set her down while they were showering in the main bathroom while I snuck into Thane’s, wanting to shave my damn legs.
And no way was I getting that done in there with them while we were jammed like sardines in a can. We needed a bigger shower, preferably one with a long bench, so I didn’t have to stand and shave my legs.
Rhen quirks a brow at me, and I look at Raidon, suddenly uncomfortable with the way they were watching me and not speaking, as if I was some piece of art on a pedestal they were examining to see if I was symmetrical or abstract.
“Scarlet is fine. She is asleep in the nursery, I just checked her.” Thane finally speaks, and I nod, exhaling with relief while moving toward the walk- in closet. Raidon moves so quickly that he makes my eyes hurt as he steps in front of the door, blocking me.
A devious smile plays on his lips as his eyes flicker black, a deep thrumming purr emanating from his chest. “Are you forgetting something?” He purrs, stalking toward me. “Yeah, my damn pajamas,” I tell him, trying to sidestep him.
“Nothing else?” he questions, making me step back. My brows furrow at his words when he growls. The noise was extra loud with my newfound hearing, causing me to jump.
“You promised me,” Thane growls behind me, and I glance at him. Yet I was at a loss for what I promised. I rack my brain. “The council thingy is not until tomorrow,” I tell him.
“Seems someone has a case of baby brain,” Rhen chuckles.
“No, Thane said he wanted me to go to the hearing thing and-” I gasp, remembering I promised to mark them once we got home. Yet I became preoccupied with the nursery I finally got to see. And I was settling Scarlet.
I also may have had a nap in the rocking chair with her. And completely ignored them when they said. they were showering and went and stuffed my face. with some chocolate mud cake I found in the fridge before escaping to Thane’s shower.
“You’ll be keeping that promise, Lowe. Now remove the towel.” Thane orders.
I raise an eyebrow at him. “Your command won’t work on me,” I smirk. Thane’s eyes flicker dangerously, and Leon shakes his head.
“Hmm, and here I thought she knew better by now than to test her Alpha.” Leon snickers, nudging Thane. I glare at Leon, and his eyes flicker red with his bloodlust.
“I have other ways I can make you compliant, Lowe. So are you going to make me come over there?” he asks.
“No, you can remain where you are. They can just line up, be like a drive-thru, take a bite, and scoot to the next.” I tell him with a chuckle. Yep, call me Mcdonalds.
“We plan on driving-thru you alright.” Thane threatens. My stomach squeezes as lust burns in my stomach, yet butterflies dim the feeling quickly.
“I can quickly do it now,” I tell him, hopping from one foot to the other. I wanted to get this over with. Thane was right. It needed to be done, but I wasn’t looking forward to them biting me. I wanted their
marks to remove Corbin’s, yet the pain of Corbin’s Pack was still so fresh in my mind, my scream replaying in my head over and over as I begged them to stop, only for the next one to take a bite of me.
Hands fall on my hips as Raidon presses his chest against my back. “That is not what we had in mind.” he purrs, nipping at my shoulder. My stomach sinks. I wanted to go to bed, maybe eat the rest of that mud cake. I certainly didn’t feel like stripping off and being forced on display for them.
Not with the scars and stretch marks lacing my body or the way my skin doesn’t feel right beneath my hands still. I felt squishy and far from desirable. Also, I may have shaved my legs, that didn’t mean I shaved anything else. Not that I was sporting an Amazonian look, but still.
“We want you, not just your mark.” Raidon growls.
