Shadows of Betrayal

The moon cast a pale glow through the windows as I sat by Alpha Tyrion’s side, watching his chest rise and fall rhythmically in deep slumber. Midnight had come and gone, and yet he remained oblivious to the world around him, his exhaustion consuming him like a heavy shroud.
I hadn’t gotten the courage to leave his side for even a minute after what Calle had told me. I couldn’t afford to risk his life in any way. Even if it meant, I had to sit by him all night or even whole life.
“Why is everything so difficult for us? ” I talked to him. Somewhere in my heart I wanted him to wake up. So, that I could tell him everything and then we both could run away from here. But it was impossible right now, Calle had no regards for his own mate if he could put her life in danger like that.
With a heavy heart, I rose from his side, my footsteps echoing softly in the quiet room. The weight of anticipation and worry settled upon my shoulders as I made my way towards the abandoned chambers, my thoughts consumed by the image of my mother.
What secrets did those forgotten halls hold? Would I finally find the answers I had long sought?
The palace was quiet after the fire incident because everyone had been traumatized by the fact that the Queen could have lost her life. I covered my bare arms with the shawl I had draped around me.
“Where are you going? ” I stopped in my tracks.
Ava watched me with suspicion written on her face, her eyes narrowed down as I felt uncomfortable around her.
“None of your business. ” I said.
She scoffed, ” Why don’t you just leave him? Can’t you see you brought the bad luck with you? ”
I sighed, ” Ava, I don’t have time for this. ”
She pushed me, ” We are about to have a child together. You have put his life in danger so many times. I wish you were dead. He is mine. Mine. ”
Fortunately, Alpha Kristian came to get her back to her chamber and I was able to go on my way. I didn’t let her cruel words work on me because I knew that I would not cause any havoc in Alpha Tyrion’s life. After this competition ends and the dangers flying his head are gone, I would leave him.
The building almost black in color from the years of rain and no care, stared back at me. The garden which was now a ruin of something beautiful gave a haunted feeling. The air was colder here than the rest of the kingdom. Darkness and silence welcomed in the main entrance.
As I stepped into the gloom of the abandoned chambers, the scent of candles and flowers engulfed me, mingling with the stale air of neglect. A room had been prepared, flickering candlelight casting dancing shadows upon the walls. Roses, deep red roses lay everywhere on the floor. It looked completely different than the rest of the building. It was beautiful and attracted me instantly.
But my heart sank as I saw the figure standing amidst the flickering glow – Lycan Calle, his eyes gleaming with a twisted desire. He was holding a bouquet of roses in his hands with a smile.
Anger flared within me, my voice laced with defiance. “I came here for the pictures of my mother, not for your seduction games,” I spat, my voice trembling with a mixture of indignation and fear.
Calle’s lips curled into a sinister smile, his words dripping with a toxic sweetness. “Oh, my dear Celine, you misunderstand. Your mother wanted this too. She yearned for us to be together, to embrace our true nature.”
Revulsion twisted within me at his words, my body recoiling from his proximity. I took a step back, my resolve hardening. “You’re deluded! My mother would never want this. Let me go!”
But before I could escape, his grip tightened around my ankle, his strength overpowering my feeble attempts at resistance. Panic surged through me as I realized my powerlessness, trapped within his clutches.
“Why don’t you accept that you belong to me? Don’t lie that you couldn’t feel the bond when you first saw me. I have been waiting for you. Longing for your touch and you dance around that crazy wolf. ” He was acting like a complete lunatic. His mouth just inches away from me.
“No! You have a mate. The Queen will never allow this! I am twenty decades younger than you! ”
He snarled, ” It’s not my fault that the arrangements was done this way. You’re mine. And I will never allow you to carry someone else’s pups. ” He touched my lips, ” Your eyes, your skin, your lips, your uterus, all belong to me… ”
I tried to kick him away but he was powerful enough to hold him under him. His dirty hands ran above my thigh and his mouth touching my neck. Tears escaped my eyes and even Belinay was unable to come over and fight him.
He was the Lycan King after all.
Just as despair threatened to consume me, a low growl reverberated through the chamber, piercing the tension-laden air. I watched in astonishment as a massive red wolf burst into the room, eyes blazing with a fierce determination
“Who’s that? ” Calle growled.
The wolf lunged at Calle, their bodies colliding in a whirlwind of snarls and swipes.
The wolf looked at me with its bright silver eyes, tilting it’s head in the direction of the exit.
Instinct kicked in, and I seized the opportunity to break free, stumbling towards the exit. The sounds of their struggle echoed behind me as I ran, my heart pounding in my chest. Fear propelled me forward, my mind focused on escaping the clutches of that twisted Lycan.
With each panicked step, I could hear the clash of teeth and the growls of the battling beasts. The red wolf fought valiantly, its presence a beacon of hope in the darkness. I dared not look back, knowing that my survival depended on reaching safety.
Finally, I burst out into the moonlit night, gasping for breath. Tears mingled with the sweat on my face, my body trembling with adrenaline. I had escaped, but the encounter had left me shaken and more determined than ever to uncover the truth.
As I glanced back, the red wolf stood at the threshold of the abandoned chambers, its gaze locked with mine for a fleeting moment. Gratitude and awe filled my heart as I whispered a silent thank you to the guardian who had come to my rescue.
Calle was badly injured and he couldn’t even get up as the wolf disappeared into the darkness from where it had come before.
In that moment, I vowed to find the truth and bring an end to the darkness that had plagued my mother’s disappearance. I would face the dangers that lay ahead, armed with the strength forged from love and the courage gifted by the wolf who had saved me.
“I feel I am not that useless after all. ” I told my wolf who agreed too.
