KNIGHT
“Look how it is easy to corrupt a dog,” said the white woman older than Zarah.
“And here I thought you were dead, Dayana.” Zarah tsked, shaking her head. You’re still desperate for attention.”
“So she’s back.” Dayana eyed Shadow. “I wonder how she did that. I don’t think you have that in you to get what she lost, Zarah.”
“Yes, wicked bitch. I’m back, better, and stronger.” Shadow snarled, eyes glowing silver.
“You can’t defeat me, young Lycan,” Dayana said proudly, her eyes glittering. “I’m stronger than you and your mother combined. Losing your wolf and your gift proves I’m more powerful than Margaret and Zarah.”
My fists clenched. “Well, you’re outnumbered. Unless you have extra wolves with you, you can try.”
Dayana raised her hand, making the ground just quaked. A tree on her left began to shake, leaves flying, and then she motioned her hand up, and a tree pulled out from the ground. One swift, it flew in our direction.
I dodged the tree, but it didn’t fall on us. Zarah countered Dayana’s force and hurled the tree away.
I’d never seen a hybrid lycan shift. Hearing my guys gasp, I turned to Shadow, now in her hybrid form. It was something I didn’t see every day. She was terrifying, but at the same time, I was proud to call her my friend.
She ran faster in Dayana’s direction while she was distracted by Zarah. I shifted and followed her, too, but Shadow had already thrown her away before she could come close to Dayana. They were all forces to be reckoned with.
“Knight, you should take Nirvana away!” Zarah caught my attention.
I ran back, shifting my way to Kailin to protect them. “I can’t leave you here, Zarah.”
“I can handle her, but Nirvana needs to be out of here. She came from her. Now, Knight!” With one hand, she created a portal. “Go! I’ll be fine.”
“Kailin can take her.”
“Damn it, Knight!” she yelled at me, her eyes turned stone-white. “Trust me on this.”
“Alpha, I’ll stay here. Take her to safety.” Kailin put Nirvana in my arms and pushed me into the portal.”
The portal took me to the living room but didn’t look familiar. It was modern and smelled like an ocean. A whooshing sound caught my hearing, and then a tree branch entered, hitting the wall before the portal closed behind us.
I looked around and froze to see three men with guns pointing at me. My heart was still in my throat when Sebastien walked in barefooted.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Knight?”
“Yeah. I need your help.”
“Put your gun down, guys. He’s a friend.” He looked at unconscious Nirvana. “What happened to her?”
“She got kidnapped.”
“Take her to the room at the corner. I’ll be right back.” He went downstairs, and the man who pointed a gun at me came with me and helped open the door.
I stared at what looked like an infirmary with complete medical equipment. I put Nirvana on the bed; she hadn’t moved a muscle, except she was breathing. I wiped the hair away from her face and kissed her forehead.
“Sweetheart, you’re safe now.”
“How did you get in here? Where’s Zarah.” He put a probe on Nirvana’s finger and a cuff on her arm before he turned on the monitor. The machine started working.
“We rescued Nirvana from her cousin’s friends.”
“Let me guess, you took stray dogs and stabbed you in the back?”
“Yeah, if that’s how you put it.” My chest clenched with guilt and regrets. “I was trying to impress my mate, I guess.”
“Where are Zarah and my child, Knight?”
“They’re behind me. I wanted to stay, but Kailin pushed me to save Nirvana. Werewolves who kidnapped her are dead, but they are still fighting the witch who masterminded the kidnapping.”
“Witch who?”
“Dayana.”
“The witch who helped Aciano poison my daughter? That fucking witch?” His voice boomed, shaking the room. Shadow was scary in her hybrid, but a pissed-off Sebastien? He was frightening.
“The very same.”
“I will kill her myself.” His eyes glowed silver as he glared at me.
“I wanted to help, but Zarah told me to save Nirvana, and she could handle her. They were not alone. My guys were with them.”
“Make sure Zarah will not get hurt, or I will hang you in the neck.”
“I don’t wanna leave them. Trust me.”
“I believe you. Zarah is selfless like my daughter, but if they said they could handle the witch, they’d be fine. I can feel my daughter, and she’s furious.” He looked at the monitor. “She’s stable, but Zarah will figure out what spell the witch put on her.”
“Thank you.”
The man came back with clothes.
“Get dressed, Knight.” He grabbed the clothes from his man, giving them to me. “You can’t swing your dick around my house.”
I chuckled. “Sorry for showing up in your living room unannounced.”
“That’s Alessandro.”
“Thank you, Alessandro.” I nodded at Alessandro before they left us. After I put the clothes on, I sat back close to Nirvana. I was still worried that Zarah hadn’t arrived yet.
“Nirvana, can you hear me?” I held her hand and closed my eyes to connect to her mind, but she must be so exhausted, or the spell on her prevented us from linking each other.
I was quick on my feet when I heard the commotion. I left the infirmary and went to the living room. “Zarah?”
“Kailin is hurt. There’s a splinter in her thigh. It needs to be removed so I can heal her,” Shadow said, helping Kailin inside the infirmary.
“Everyone is fine.” Zarah must have felt my tension. “I told them to lockdown your territory until you’re back.”
“Is anyone hurt aside from Kailin?”
“Luka is pretty bang-up but didn’t want to come with us. He decided to help watch the pack.”
“My love.” Sebastien hugged and kissed Zarah.
I looked away and went back to the infirmary. “K, are you okay?”
She hisses as Shadow helps her to the other bed and lifts her leg. “Bitch! Can’t you even warn me first?”
“You’re a badass. Stop whining.” Shadow made fun of Kailin as she poured saline on the wound. “This is not even alcohol.”
“Just take it out and heal me.”
“Gee, you’re demanding and commanding. I can’t wait until you find your mate and submit to his order.”
“It hurts, princess. Now, please?” Her sarcasm made Shadow laugh.
“Father, can you help this woman?”
“What happened to her thigh?”
“There’s a wood splinter in her thigh. She can’t heal properly.”
“We have to cut it open,” Sebastien said. I saw how they were so related. Both had dark humor.
“What?” Kailin’s eyes went wide. “You’re not serious.”
“For the love of Goddess. I need to check on Nirvana.” Zarah pressed her fingertips on Kailin’s wound and lifted the splinter. It was big, the size of a chopstick. She gave it to Kailin. “A souvenir.”
“Shit. That’s why you won’t heal.” Shadow looked surprised, too. “Let me heal you.”
“No. I’m fine. Just heal Vana.”
“I can do that, too, as long as it’s not witch-related.” She pressed her palm on my cousin’s wound, and I saw it light up. When she took off her hand, the wound began closing.
“Wow. Impressive, princess. I barely feel the pain.”
“You’re welcome. Now rest.”
When Zarah came to touch Nirvana’s head, “I’m glad Dayana is dead.”
“Is Nirvana gonna wake up soon?”
“Yeah. The spell on Nirvana is wearing off, which prevents her from using her power. I have a feeling she couldn’t teleport when she’s tied.”
“But she moved while she was inside the bag.”
“Yes. Her power is trying to recuperate her body right now. That’s why she’s sleeping. Let her rest.”
“I’m grateful. All of you. I wouldn’t be able to take her back if-”
“Shut up.” Shadow rolled her eyes as she headed towards the door. “Your plan sucked. Maybe you can do it here. Check the view. It’s romantic.”
“What plan?” I pretended I didn’t know what she was talking about.
Shadow just had an evil grin on her lips. “Do you want me to tell the sleeping beauty instead? I’m good at ruining surprises?”
“I take it I’m the sleeping beauty.”
