NIRVANA “Fuck,” he cursed under his breath as he realized what he did. His eyes began to glow.
I froze, placing my hand on his chest. “Calm down. It’s fine. It doesn’t hurt, and it didn’t bleed.”
He looked at my neck. “I’m so sorry. I never lost control like that.”
“Maybe we both need that.” I patted the spot where he bit me. It stung a little, but that was it. I was more horny and unsated.
“No, sweetheart.” His voice came out a growl, full of regrets. “I could have hurt you. And you don’t heal fast.”
I chuckled. “You don’t want them to see your bite on my neck?”
“Fuck, I want to, but when we do the mating. Not like this.”
Arching my brows, I teased him. “So what are we exactly doing?”
“I ruined it, didn’t I?”
I cupped his face when I felt the guilt in his words, gauging his tone. “No. Never.”
He got off me and moved to his side, but he still pulled me into his arms. “Next time, tell me to stop.”
“Maybe I didn’t want to,” I teased further.
“I know this is not the right time to talk about your gift. The reason why your life was in danger was because of it, but after seeing you die in my arms, it felt like I died with you, too, but I still felt the excruciating pain in every cell in my body. I don’t wanna go through that moment. I don’t care. I don’t give a shit about your gift anymore. I want you to be free and live your life as you want. No more bullshit, Nirvana. If that gift could tear us apart, then it’s not a gift. It’s a curse.”
I giggled. “Wow. That’s the best confession I’ve ever heard.”
“I’m not joking,” he pointed out.
“When I fell, my body was paralyzed. It was the moment I had regrets. I let my anger lead me to danger. I had that moment when I wished I could turn back just three minutes and get the hell out of there. Now, I was given a second chance. I don’t wanna waste every second of my life on nonsense. I wanna be with you.”
“We can do this together, Nirvana.” He hugged me tight, nuzzling his nose in the crook of my neck.
“Yes, we can. We’re unbeatable together.”
I closed my eyes, wanting to fall asleep, secured and protected in his arms.
A gasp escaped my lips. I found myself in the middle of the woods, in the middle of the darkness, so cold that it could freeze my bones.
My heart hammered in my chest the moment I realized this didn’t feel like meditating with Zarah. This seemed looked real.
I fell hard on my ass, dragging myself back away from that being- a wolf, a glowing big bad wolf. It was like a blue luminescent, glowing, LED light in the dark, yet with a blue flame blazing all over its body. The eyes glowed almost white.
“Please, don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me, please?” I covered my head with my arms when it came closer, and I had no way of escaping. “I have a family. I have a mate. Please, I still wanna see them.”
That thing growled before me, but I was still there, alive, breathing, and unharmed. I slowly lowered my arms, and it was still there, staring right into my arms as if communicating with me. What the hell?
It nearly gave me a heart attack.
“Whatever you are, I do not have a quarrel with you. Let me go, please? I promise I will stay out of your-” I looked around. It wasn’t familiar. I couldn’t see anything but darkness in the woods. I was sure I was in the woods because of the earthy scents and the rustling of leaves, and I felt the softness of the ground under my feet.
“I don’t mean to hurt you.” One moment, she was a glowing wolf, and now, she was a big white wolf standing before me. Wait. Did it just talk to me in my head?
“Oh. Who are you?” My voice still trembled.
“I’m one of many spirits.”
I chuckled, swatting my hand. “Right. A female wolf spirit is talking in my head.”
“Be serious, Nirvana.”
“Wait. How do you know me?” I felt goosebumps erupt all over my body.
“You died by a dark magic and brought back to life by magic. Your soul has been saved. You are pure and chosen to have an animal spirit to protect you, guide you, and help you protect the people you care about from the evil that walks on earth, but you must never abuse it.”
“Excuse me? I’m far from pure. I think you got the wrong, wolfy girl.”
“We had never been wrong. I symbolized power, loyalty, and guardianship.”
“Uh-huh. I’m dreaming again, am I? But I say hard pass. I died once, and I can’t do it again.” I cleared my throat. “Look, I died and was brought back to life, and I’m taking this second chance to good use, helping people, enjoying life, and being with my loved ones, but not to be controlled by whatever you are. You look cool, though, like an astral projection in Dr. Strange.”
“You need me, Nirvana, to help fight evils that walk the earth.”
“Enough with supernatural reference. I’m going home.” I got up and waved at the wolf. “Ciao.”
“I’m already you, a part of you. I don’t need permission. How else are you still alive? This is the price you paid. All you have to do is use the power inside you.”
“You’re kidding, right?” I did a swift turn and glared at her.
“Call me, Asina.” She laughed. Her voice was rich and free. “Now, ciao, bellissima.”
“Ouch.” I winced in pain as I fell to the ground and quickly looked around and saw the house before me. “What the hell?”
I was barefooted and still wearing the same shirt and pajama bottoms before I slept. I was sure I fell asleep in Knight’s arms, and now I had ended up outside the house.
I was quickly on my feet and went to the back door, which was locked.
“Shit.” I drew a deep breath, closed my eyes, and tried communicating with Zarah. She was a witch. I hoped I could get through her. “Zarah, I’m at the back door. I don’t want to wake up everyone and freak them out. Please, come and open the door. I need to talk to you.”
I waited on the patio with the hope Zarah woke up.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
Startling, I stood up, ran towards Zarah, and hugged her tight. “This is insane, and it starts to freak me out.”
“What is going on?” She inspected me from head to toe. “You’re not wearing slippers. Did you sleepwalk?”
“I don’t know. I don’t think so, but I was dreaming. Then I woke up, felt like freefalling, and found myself on the ground at the entrance. How in the hell did it happen? Why is this happening to me? I can’t just wake up and fall. What if I fall on a busy street the next time it happens, in the lake or ocean? I don’t wanna-”
“Calm down. Your heart is racing.” She held my arms.
“Of course, my heart is racing, Zarah. Every nerve in my body is humming with fear. Have you heard the name Asina?”
Zarah looked shocked but not horrified. “Where did you hear that name?”
“In my dream. Do you know her?”
“Let’s get inside. We’ll talk about this in the morning. Wash your feet before you get in his room.”
“The door is probably locked.”
“I will unlock it for you.” She walked past me upstairs. “Don’t tell anyone.”
“Got it.”
I went to the bathroom and washed my feet. My clothes had dirt on them. My dream felt real, and her laugh still rang in my ears.
The door to Knight’s room was unlocked. I quickly changed my clothes and went back to bed.
Knight stirred, wrapping his arm around me. “Where did you go?”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I went to the patio to get some air. Get some sleep.”
“You smell good, Nirvana.”
“Sleep, alpha.”
