Chapter 25
Chapter 25
“Skyler, you’re crazy!” Willow couldn’t be bothered to listen to Skyler’s nonsense anymore. With those words, she abruptly ended the call.
After she hung up, her heart continued to pound fiercely. She knew that perhaps if she killed Caroline, Skyler would keep her promise to give her the mo
Yet she couldn’t betray her conscience. Willow genuinely liked Caroline.
Caroline wasn’t just her idol. She was her guiding light.
When Willow was young, she was sickly and was often bullied at school. Once, she was pushed into a muddy pit by several girls, leaving her covered in
Caroline, who was doing charity work at the school, saw her in that state. Without the air of a celebrity, Caroline carefully lifted her out of the mud. Her ex didn’t mind. She simply asked Willow if she was hurt.
The memory of Caroline’s gentle actions still softened Willow’s heart.
She couldn’t fathom why Skyler would want to harm someone as kind as Caroline. They were mother and daughter, after all.
Nor could she understand why Xavier suddenly dropped his pursuit of her, despite harboring such intense hatred toward her.
Willow wanted to uncover all the truths and clear her own name.
However, her time was running short. She could only devote her last days to raising money for Aaron because nothing was more important to her than ensuring survival. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Just as Willow was at her wit’s end over the money, her phone suddenly received a news alert.
“The Mayer Family’s Eldest Son, Matthew Mayer, Returns as Mayer Group’s New CEO”
Matthew Mayer?
In disbelief, Willow clicked on the notification. The handsome man in the photo was indeed Matthew, the man in her memories.
Matthew was the man whom she had shared life and death with. He had been through thick and thin with her.
During the four years she was confined in the dungeon by Skyler and Louis, she wasn’t alone. Inside, there was a man covered in blood–Matthew.
At that time, Matthew had been a wreck. She had helped him with massages and obtained medicine to prevent him from becoming a cripple.
Her left arm had been disabled from her attempt to save Matthew.
That day, on a whim, Louis ordered the dungeon guards to cripple Matthew’s legs. She fought desperately to protect him, sacrificing her arm to ensure h and–death struggles they faced together were enough to make her willing disregard her life for him.
Matthew once said that if they could leave the dungeon alive and see the sun again, he would work hard to earn money and cure Aaron’s illness.
Now, he was rich. He would definitely be willing to lend her money to cure Aaron.
The thought of Aaron being saved almost drove Willow mad with joy.
She didn’t know where Matthew lived now, but she found Mayer Tower’s location online and went there to find him.
Willow originally intended to go to his office, but without an appointment, the receptionist wouldn’t let her in. So she could only wait for him in the undergr
She began waiting in the morning and finally saw Matthew as evening fell.
Seeing him emerge from the elevator, she quickly walked up to him and grabbed his arm tightly.
“Matthew, I finally found you! Where did you go after leaving the motel that day? Why didn’t you contact me or Aaron?”
Being grabbed like that, Matthew seemed momentarily stunned. In an instant, his demeanor turned icy.
