Lifeless
While staring at his wife’s bleeding head, Drew’s body was trembling, and his jaw was clenching. While he was downstairs, he heard the two men mention his mother. He could hear it because Jericho and Kenneth were shouting at each other.
As though life had somehow departed Lily’s body, it was unresponsive. He is to blame because he left his wife at the gathering. His chest constricted at the sight before he attacked Jericho.
While the arresting officer was handcuffing him, Drew shoved him, and said, “What did you do?!”
“It’s your fault! You are the reason why your wife is often in trouble!”
“That’s not true!” He simply wanted to exact revenge on Lily for what those beasts did to her! Perhaps it was his fault that Lily always ended up breaking up in the end. He had considered destroying Jericho, but not in a way that would involve his wife once more.
“Your wife is a slutty fuckin’ slut! If you have an issue and she becomes pregnant with her lover, don’t hold it against me!”
“Of course, this would be your justification, almighty Drew Walton! You manipulated Lily and my wife, and don’t deny it!”
He acknowledged Jericho’s assertions. He prodded Jenny into her current state by luring her like a toddler being offered candy. However, not all of it was his fault. Isn’t she married? Why did Jenny always act indecently to seduce him? It’s no longer his fault if she became pregnant because she fell in love with another man. He hatched a scheme against the woman, but it was her willingness that made it all happen.
“I did nothing!” Drew denied. “I didn’t get your wife pregnant! I paid her back then as an escort, but there is no illicit relationship between us now!”
Jericho’s teeth gritted. To express the agony he was feeling towards Drew, he said, “You are taking revenge on me! You ruined my wife because we ruined yours too! Yeah, maybe you don’t know, but you also have too much faith in Lily. You thought she was our victim? She consented to whatever Kenneth asked of her because she loved him.”
Drew punched Jericho because he insulted his wife. Before Orion and the others could calm him down, his thumping fist left the fucker bleeding.
“Drew, you need to calm down,” muttered Orion.
The next time, he would give what he had just heard this evening some thought. He picked up Lily’s unresponsive body and carried her downstairs. He passed Kenneth, who was giving him a serious look. He wanted to ask the man why he toyed and mistreated his wife, or why he loved his dead mother, but he didn’t have time for Lily’s stepbrother.
Drew led Lily outside. He hugged the woman who was curled up on top of his calf and continued to talk in her ear. He comforted her with soothing words in her ear, then gave her a tender kiss on the forehead.
“Lily, I’m here… This won’t happen again, baby… We’re going someplace…. And I’ll defend you from anyone trying to hurt you,” he said those words over and over.
He aspires to strength. He and Lily might not have reached this conclusion if he had simply let Kenneth and his friends go.
Tears began to well in Lily’s eyes, firmly clutching his clothes. Lily’s birthday was today. Her wife should be happy.
During the course of the investigation, he drove Lily to the hospital. Kenneth should be thankful that he was not involved in this case. However, Brian was implicated after he took Remi’s son hostage. Drew found it quite annoying to think about them.
Does Lily understand that he is only Remi’s son’s financial backer and has no other relationship with them?
But he lacks the strength to elaborate. She was exhausted. He was drained.
After making sure Lily got her medical treatment, Drew took her to Lauren’s private rest house in the nearby province.
He needed to keep Lily away from everyone while he conducted his own investigation.
After only a few days of their stay at the beach house, he became worried that Lily wasn’t as receptive as she once was. She continued to give him a lifeless response, which was concerning. He asked their friends and invited them to help him with solving his dilemma.

Lily could hear the beach waves crashing on the shore. She was aware that they were at Lauren’s beach house. The window was wide open, allowing the high, brilliant sun from outside to shine directly inside, making the room bright and airy. The room was filled with its warmth and brightness, while the cool wind was touching her long hair.
“Don’t make me laugh, Lily! You liked Kenneth. He won’t play with you if you don’t like him! You’re just as twisted as your stepbrother!”
Jericho’s voice rang in her ear. She seemed to still remember his venomous voice. When she was twelve and Kenneth was nineteen, their parents’ marriage brought the mother and son to the Martin home. He had a training course at the hospital as a student during the same year.
She was the only child in the family, and being fascinated by Kenneth after her father brought him home was a normal reaction.
Now, she’s puzzled as to whether she is at fault for her stepbrother’s behavior in manipulating ang toying with her innocent mind, as Jericho claimed.
How about Drew? Was Drew really manipulating her? Everyone said he was a cunning fucker, a scumbag-even her husband admitted to these assertions.
She thought back on everything they had gone through from the moment she married him; she feared him until he taught her how to fight. For a couple of months of being his wife, she became independent. In that conclusion, contrary to what some people might think, her husband was a good man.
As the sea breeze ruffled their hair, she felt two arms encircle her waist.
“Are you alright, babe?” Drew sniffed her neck.
She closed her eyes to deeply feel his touch. God! She wanted Drew so much! She wanted him. But once he dumps her, it will destroy her completely.
Drew stroked her cheek. “I brought you here to get you away from the others. I’ve set up everything you need at school, so you won’t have any problems.”
“I understood,” she said, forcing a smile.
“Let’s eat. I bought some seafood. Orion left to allow us time alone. I just realized we haven’t done our honeymoon yet,” he said, chuckling.
“Okay.” She couldn’t say anything other than that.
Drew led her out of the two-story rest house. There is a table shaded by a large leafy tree. He helped her to sit before serving her lunch. He grilled oysters, shrimp, and other vegetables.
Lily watched Drew intently. Her life has always differed from her husband’s. Why does she want him to live a lifetime with her? She was nothing more than a woman with a horrible past, whereas he was such a prince.
“Lauren lent me this rest house months ago, but I thought of using it now,” he said before looking at her lifeless expression. “Lily? Lily?”
Her attention abruptly turned to him; her thoughts were scattered all over the place. “Hmm?”
Drew placed the freshly grilled shrimp on her platter and said, “Here. Do not consume it right away; wait until it has cooled.”
Lily nodded, forcing a smile. She had a lot on her mind while he packed her plate with food.
With concern, Drew asked, “Are you alright, babe?”
“I’m sorry; I just have some thoughts. Where is my phone? I’ll check to see if I’ve received a message.”
“It’s inside the room. Please finish the food before making a call.”
“Okay.”
Drew gave her a hug. The only sound was the lapping of the waves against the coast as silence descended upon the two of them.
“Remi’s son is not my son,” Drew said, startling her. “If that’s why you’re quiet, it’s not mine. I told you before that I was cheated on by a woman because of my money, that’s Remi.”
She sincerely replied, “I believe you, Drew. Your ex is not what I had in mind. I was just-”Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Drew took her hand. “But I truly admit that it was my fault that Jericho and his wife, Jenny, misunderstood each other. It’s true that I tried to control things. Jenny tried to seduce me in the office, and I knew it was because she was after my money.
“I introduced a foreign businessman who asked me to make a big investment in his company in order to save his business. Except for Sarah, who knew who the man was, everyone in the office was informed that he was one of the major foreign investors in the Walton Group, rather than I was investing in them.”
“Okay,” Lily responded.
Drew felt lost as to what to say next. ‘Okay,’ and that’s it? If she didn’t express any interest, what would he say after that?
