Chapter 79
Chapter 79 Remembered Her Favorite Dishes
Noticing Leah's bewilderment, Maurie handed the menu to the waiter and asked with concern, "Leah, what's wrong? Do you feel unwell, or are the dishes I chose not to your liking?"
A wave of unease washed over him as he posed the last question.
Maurie pondered, "I remember these were Leah's favorite dishes in high school. What if her taste has changed over the years? Did I just dig a hole for myself, making Leah form a bad impression of me?" Hearing the soft, gentle voice instantly brought Leah back from her thoughts. She gently smiled, "No, it's nothing like that. I actually like the dishes you chose."
Maurie then breathed a sigh of relief and felt even happier. "I'm glad you like them."
Leah took a sip from the water glass on the table before shifting the conversation. "Regarding our company's advertising concept, is there anything you didn't understand? Let me know, and I'll have my team make the necessary revisions."
Maurie's body stiffened, and his expression turned somewhat uneasy. "You're the..."
She responded, "The CEO."
Upon hearing this, Maurie became even more visibly uneasy.
He thought, "Had I known Leah was the company's CEO, I would've gladly done the shoot, even without payment! But what I've said about their company is irreversible now, and I can't take them back." Maurie awkwardly touched his nose, cleared his throat, and replied, "About the ad concept, I'll compile my suggestions in a document and send it to you."
As he said that, he suddenly thought of something and smiled sheepishly. He pulled out his phone, opened the "add contact" screen, and handed it to Leah. "Oh, I just remember. I don't have your contact information yet. Let's exchange numbers. It'll make communication for work matters easier."
Leah thought it over and found it reasonable.
She nodded, entered her number in his phone, and took out her own phone to add Maurie's number.
"All done," Leah said.
"I'll message you right away on WhatsApp." Maurie lowered his head, sent her a chat, and sneakily saved Leah's contact as "my crush."
Leah was oblivious to Maurie's
actions. She glanced toward the
kitchen area, noticing the waiter. bringing their dishes. She shifted slightly to make room for the waiter to set the table.
A few minutes later, all the dishes they had ordered were served.
Maurie then picked up a fork and served several pieces of food onto Leah's plate.
"I remember these were your
favorites. You should eat more.
You're too skinny. You look like you could get blown away by just a gust of wing," he commented with a playful smirk.
Leah paused, realizing Maurie had chosen the dishes specifically for her, not because they shared the same taste.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
She wondered, "But we haven't seen each other for years. How did Maurie know I like these dishes?"
"How did you know I liked these dishes?" Leah questioned. "I don't remember us dining together often in the past."
Maurie smiled warmly, "I noticed you always chose these dishes in the school cafeteria back then. So, I just memorized them after seeing them many times." "Ah, so, that's how," she thought.
Leah chuckled softly, "I never
expected someone who appeared so carefree in high school to be so attentive. You even remembered my food preferences after all these years."
Seeing Leah's warm smile, Maurie was lost in a daze. His heart raced uncontrollably, just as it did the first time he saw Leah.
Overwhelmed by his feelings, he murmured, "I only remember details about you. Nobody else gets such special treatment."
