Chapter 38
Chapter 38 The Scapegoat
"Already?" Sharon instantly panicked, and she frowned as she thought about possible solutions.
Before she could come up with a plan, her phone started ringing again.
She picked up her phone and saw it was another call from a different brand's endorsement partner.
Sharon's heart sank, and she handed the phone to her assistant again.
"Pick up the call."
"Understood." The assistant took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself, and answered the call. "Hello, this is Sharon's assistant."
"What's going on with Miss Foster's negative online reputation? It's severely impacting our brand, and our product sales are plummeting. We're considering canceling all our contracts with Miss Foster. We'll send you a list of losses, and we expect compensation within three business days. Otherwise, we'll see you in court," the caller stated firmly.
"Is there any way we can negotiate..." The assistant tried to interject, but the call was abruptly ended.
Immediately afterward, Sharon's phone kept buzzing non-stop.
Sharon's assistant looked at the screen and saw messages from fans inquiring about what was happening to Sharon. They wondered if Sharon had actually done what she was being accused of and why she had betrayed their trust.
The assistant looked up and passed the phone to Sharon. "Sharon, you should check this out."
Sharon, who was nearby, had already seen the messages.
With a somber expression, she contemplated for a few seconds and then quickly posted a statement on Twitter: [I never expected that a few harmless jokes would lead to such a huge impact. In fact, Miss Wilson and I are good friends, and my comment was merely a playful jest. I'm sure that she won't mind. The legal letter is just a formality, and it's nothing serious.]
"Ugh, what a shameless woman. She still wants to get you involved," Janet said indignantly as she handed her phone to Leah.
Leah lowered her gaze and immediately put on a sarcastic smile.
"Seems like she's feeling cornered? No worries, let's add fuel to the fire."
Leah took out her phone and calmly typed a response: [Firstly, Miss Foster and I are not acquainted.. kindly request Miss Foster not to attribute her questionable behavior to a simple joke.]
[Secondly, it's okay to make mistakes, but the problem lies in making mistakes and repeatedly finding excuses for them.]
[Lastly, I believe Miss Foster has
received the legal letter, and if itThis belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
not addressed promptly, I'll have to accompany the court officers to your residence.] én.swnovels.net
After editing her response, she posted it online.
Janet immediately saw the post and burst into laughter.
"That's right! Keep that shameless woman away from you!"
Leah set her phone aside and leisurely sipped her coffee from the table.
"Let's see what she does next."
Janet scrolled through the comments under Sharon's Twitter post, thoroughly amused.
"These netizens are really good at this. Their mockery is top-notch."
"Well, let me see it," Leah said, opening Sharon's Twitter and casually browsing through the comments.
[I remember Sharon had a fan who once said that if she ever did something so malicious, he'd jump off the bridge. I wonder if he's taken the plunge?]
[Sharon allowed Miss Wilson to be wrongly accused and attacked, and now she claims that they are friends? Does she think we're all fools?]
[Now that the truth is out. Sharon embarrassed herself, and her fans were even more humiliated. It's so unlucky to have an idol like her.] Maria, upon seeing the news online, rushed to Sharon's house.
"Sharon, are you alright? Leah was so despicable to say such things about you. It's truly disgusting."
Sharon looked at Maria, her eyes
gleaming with schemes. She quickly
grabbed Maria's hand and said, "Maria, we're best friends, right? If I ever face difficulties, you'll help me out, won't you?"
