Branch Fifty One
“I gave you the advice to buy your property at the same time I was buying mine but you decided against it because you are proud and narcissistic,” Jessica said.
She rarely loses her cool but when she did she always found it hard to control herself. How dare he demand money from her when she had the true right and ownership of the building?
She was glad she was yet to put the building in his name. She has said she would do so after the wedding but he had shamelessly left her at the altar and cheated on her with her friend.
“I can’t believe you are so selfish. You are living in a mansion and you can’t leave an ordinary two-bedroom apartment for me?” Burke asked.
Jessica had not noticed until this moment how narcissistic he was. And to think he was also trying to gaslight her into giving him the building.
Jessica opened her mouth to speak before the phone was yanked from her hand. She turned startled because she thought she was alone in the room.
It was Xavier there who collected the phone. She wondered how much of the conversation he had heard. Judging by the look on his face he was not pleased with what he heard.
“This would be my last warning to you. Stay away from my wife or I would have you arrested for Stalking and threatening” Xavier said smoothly.
It was like he had rehearsed the line ready to give it out at any time. Jessica blinked multiple times.
“Your wife is hoarding the house that belongs to me and her” Burke replied.
Xavier felt irritation climbing up his throat. “Who owns and bought the house?” Xavier said. He felt like he was indulging in this man. It was foolish of him but he needed to do all he can to ensure that this man stays out of his business henceforth.
“She did but we promised to rent out the house and use as an upkeep when we eventually got married. She was supposed to add my name to the lease but to my surprise, she did not” Burke said.
Xavier has had not to deal with irresponsible and foolish men as such before. They would have been screened out by many people before they could get to him so therefore his shock in the words that this man kept saying..
“I believe that you broke of your agreement first and therefore she is at liberty to break off her side of the agreement” Xavier said.
Burke was about to say something before he was cut of by Xavier.
“I am very sure that you are calling her now because you can not pay your bills or you are in need of money but I can assure you that you would get nothing out of her. If you all her again I would report you for stalking and have you arrested for sharing false information about a person” Xavier said his voice strong so that this man knows he is not just talking to brag.
Burke did feel afraid. He knew that he was not supposed to receive any money from Jessica but he remembers her as a soft woman who would bring to any will so far she was pressured. He did not expect to run into her husband while her was going to extort money from her.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
He heard the phone beep and then go off. This plan to get money was not going to work for him. He needed money. Emma was now pressuring him to get married because she was with a child. He could not say no to her because he knew her.
She wanted a lavish and extravagant wedding and he had no funds. She was clinging like a gum.
Suddenly his lost relationship with Jessica felt like silver and diamond he traded for stones.
“Why were you on the phone with your ex? Were you thinking of going back to him?” Xavier asked pointing the phone back to Jessica.
Jessica felt like she was caught red-handed while trying to steal something valuable. Why was she on the phone with him? Did it make sense that she was still moved by his mere name on the call?
She was now open to the fact that he was a gas-lighting narcissistic person but did it make sense that she still wanted him to ask her to come back?
“He called and I thought maybe I might have what he wanted. I thought we could work out our differences and move past all the arguments and be friends again” Jessica said.
What she said was half a lie. To be honest she did not want to be friends again she wanted to be lovers. She wanted to go back to the days when they could stay up all night talking about their future together.
“I thought girls blocked the number of their exes?” Xavier asked.
He was antisocial but he still picked up one or two things occasionally and it just happened to be one of those things he picked on naturally.
“I had it blocked but I….” Jessica begins to trail off at the end.
She too feels a sense of shame for what she did. It did not make sense for her to be wanting a relationship when she was married already. Even though she was not in the relationship because she wanted to be she should respect the relationship either way.
“Just block it,” Xavier said.
He could see the sad expression on her face. It was like she had been expecting a new big gift but later got something she was uninterested in. He knew that he should be careful with the way he handled the matter.
He felt very embarrassed and angry that he was standing with his woman and she would be thinking about another guy. He knew he was the one against physical relations between the two of them but it made no single sense that she did not see him as a man.
“I will after I….” the look on Xavier’s face said it all so she decided not to complete the sentence and just block him immediately.
Her husband had taken care of the situation and she was sure that Burke would not be calling her anytime soon. He was all bark with no bite.
He knows that the words of a billionaire would mean a whole lot. There would be no way that Xavier would bluff. Even if he was doing it to assert his dominance he could still lock up Burke in the police cell for days.
“Blocked,” Jessica said after tapping away on her phone for a few seconds. She turned the screen to face Xavier.
He nodded his head and then turned to go into the closet to change his clothes.
“I better get dinner started,” Jessica said loudly to herself before leaving the room.
Xavier waited for her footsteps to become faint enough before he came back to the room.
“Am I that bad as a man?”
