Ian’s hand came over mine to grab a brownie but I smacked it and smacked his other hand around my waist. “Go away leech”
“No” He quickly put one in his mouth and hissed. “Ouch it’s still hot”
“Of course it’s still hot. I just took it out of the oven”
Ian slowly reached for another one and I shot him a glare. “Touch it and I’ll break your fingers”
“You baked it to eat”
“Yes, to eat in the evening after we came back from work”
Ian scowled but wrapped both of his arms around my waist and buried his face in the crook of my neck while I served our breakfast to two plates.
“Just one” He murmured. “It’s tasty”
“Fine. But don’t come and tell me you burned your tongue”
“You’re so rude”
“When it comes to me and my baking, yes”
Ian grumbled something and tightened his hold around me. My lips tugged up and I slightly turned my head, pressing a kiss to his nose bridge. “Eat it in the evening. It tastes better when it cools down” I said softly
Ian looked up and smiled. “Okay”
It’s been a month since I discovered my feeling for him and it has been growing stronger and stronger everyday that it sometimes overwhelmed me. But I loved every part of it. I loved him and loved the idea of loving him. There were moments where I wanted to scream my feelings for him but I held back.
At first I thought it was fear of rejection but it wasn’t. With him I don’t feel that. I don’t know if Ian loves me or not but I know he won’t hurt me even though he doesn’t reciprocate. He won’t let things get awkward between us. I don’t know how I know but I just feel it.
So I’m waiting for the right time and place to confess my feelings. Even if Ian doesn’t love me I just want to say I do.
“Let’s not go to work today”
“You’ve been saying that for a month now”
“And it’ll continue”
I smiled and spun around, facing him. Ian and I were both dressed for work, he in his white shirt and black suit jacket but I could still see the hickeys I gave him last night peeking through the collars.
He angled his neck, showing me the hickeys. “You and your handiwork”
I stuck my tongue out. “You deserve it. Do you know how embarrassing it was for me to wear a scarf everyday to work? And you asshole kept renewing my hickeys every night”
Ian peered over my collar and a sly smirk played in his lips. “Sweetheart I think I forgot to renew it last night. Let’s go upstairs. I’ll make it quick” He winked.
I chuckled and smacked his shoulder. “Horny boy”
Ian grinned and pulled me closer, pressing his lips on mine. I kissed him back with the same passion and tender, our lips dancing together in delicacy.
Times like these makes me wonder why I’d been so oblivious to my feelings all this time. I even tried to set him up with another woman and now that thought makes me want to rip my hair out. How could I’ve rejected a man like Ian? He was everything I dreamt of.
Ian’s thumb lightly brushed over my nipple and I giggled, pulling away.
“Can’t keep your hands to yourself?”
Ian lowered his head and pressed a kiss to my breast. “You’re asking me to do the impossible”
I chuckled and patted his back. “Let’s eat our breakfast and leave quickly. I have so much work to do before Lauren comes and bully me”
Ian groaned and straightened up. “I’m gonna kill that woman”
I pinched his nose. “Get in line sir”
…
Lauren was painting her nails while the rest of us worked our asses off.
We’ve gotten used to working without a VP, mostly because our Chief had taken the responsibility. Poor man, he has to do both his work and VP’s work.
Lunch time came and Lauren was the first too leave, grabbing her designer handbag and storming out.
One by one people started leave. My friends also stood up but I grabbed them both by their hands.
“Don’t go. I have something to tell you”
They narrowed their eyes. “Tell what?”
“Sit down”
I still haven’t told them I loved Ian and I planned on telling today. First reason was they would kill me if I hide it from them for too long and second, I needed their advice on the confessing part.
They both sat down and I took a deep breath, bracing myself. Here goes to nothing. “I love Ian”
Both of them started blinking rapidly, as if they contracted some sickness.
Then Brian’s brows furrowed. “Are you referring to the same Ian as we know? As in CEO Ian?”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
I rolled my eyes. “Yes of course. Who else?”
They started blinking again.
“Why are you two looking at me like that? Is that so hard to believe?”
Lexi let out a breath. “Yes because you said you won’t be like a cliche book character who falls for the ML”
Brian nodded. “And I remember you saying this exact phrase, Me falling for that thing”
I opened my mouth to say something but then closed it back.
Lexi crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes. “You truly love him?”
“Yes”
“He makes you happy?”
“Very”
“Did he say he loves you?”
“No…I mean not yet”
“Are you planning on confessing?”
“Yes”
They stared me for a long moment, their eyes calculating as they watched me. Sweat trickled down my forehead as time passed by. Then suddenly huge grins broke in their lips.
Lexi drummed on the table. “Then we’re your new supporting sqaud Ma’am. The Kingston confessing sqaud!!!”
I choked with laughter.
“We made a Kingston avoiding squad too, remember?”
I nodded. It was just after Ian fired the wrong person over my hiccup. A freaking hiccup.
Lexi and Brian both shared their ideas on ‘how to confess’ as we walked down to the cafeteria. Brian’s ones were the weirdest, probably because he had never been in a relationship. His entire life is based on one night stands. Lexi’s one were kind of good but with each sentence she drifted off to explaning how hot Daniel is.
I was about to take a seat at a table when my phone rang. I took it out and saw that it was Ian.
I answered with a smile. “Hello”
“Look up”
I glanced up and saw Ian standing at the railing in the balcony. He winked at me and I chuckled.
“What are you doing there?”
“Wanted to see you”
“You’re already obsessed with me aren’t you?”
Ian smirked. “Can’t help it”
“So you called me because you wanted to hear my voice?” I teased.
“That too and another thing”
“What is it?”
“I want to take you somewhere”
“Where?”
“It’s a secret”
I scoffed. “Why is it a secret? Just tell me”
“No”
I scowled and Ian smiled. “So you coming?”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Give me a hint”
“It’s somewhere abroad”
I grinned. “Ah then of course I’m coming. I wouldn’t miss a free plane ride”
“Of course you wouldn’t. You’re Hailey Evans after all”
I frowned. “Asshole”
Ian chuckled. “Alright then. I’ll prepare everything. See you later, bye”
“Bye”
I watched Ian as he walked away.
Is this my chance? Wherever he’s taking me, should I confess there? Is that the right place and time? I can’t keep this in any longer. I have to tell him. I will tell him.
Lexi followed my gaze. “So it wasn’t a disastrous kiss after all”
My lips tugged up. “Not at all”
