Chapter 113

“What

do you mean?” Linda asked.

“If Lexi’s presence could make William back off and stop harassing Ms. Felix, it might actually be

beneficial,” James replied. “Besides, with our protection, Lexi won’t be in any trouble. We won’t let her out of sight when we take her out, will we?”

Linda and Samson exchanged glances.

Chloe had previously advised Linda about this issue. She didn’t want Lexi to become her shield.

As for William’s constant pestering, Linda was also quite frustrated.

“Linda, James has a valid point.”

“But I don’t want Lexi to…

“If we can protect Lexi, there’s no problem.” Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Linda hesitated, “Let’s discuss this later.”

*James, how are things going with your family?”

James said, “It’s almost sorted. The Pope family is the skeleton of the past now. Only my father still believes in its former glory.”

What are your plans?”

“Not sure yet. I might start with my elder brother. I’ll need Ms. Felix and Simon’s help then.”

James was aware of his own limitations and knew he had to rely on Linda and Samson, His dedicated care for Lexi was also a way to express his gratitude for their support in his family matters.

“James, I know what you’re thinking. Don’t worry. I’ll help you.”

Samson’s words were a promise.

As the year drew to a close, Linda handed over YK Media’s affairs to Samson and stayed at Felix Group with Wendy.

The year–end auditing at Felix Group was causing quite a stir.

Since Linda’s return in October, she had uncovered all the financial discrepancies and embezzlement from the past four years.

Linda had made it clear that she didn’t trust anyone in the company and had brought in specialists for the audit.

They could no longer exploit their positions for personal gain.

Linda had anticipated that the company’s finances wouldn’t be clear of violations. Besides legitimate tax avoidance, the company had been engaging in other underhanded practices.

“Ms. Felix, here are all the financial issues from when you were abroad.” Wendy handed her a document.

Linda didn’t need to look. She was already aware.

“Have the detailed reports and related documents been submitted to the relevant departments?”

Wendy confirmed that the information had been submitted and was awaiting verification. She believed a

result would be forthcoming soon, at the latest before the New Year.

“Alright. Notify everyone that I’m open to reports.”

Her statement was clear. Reporting issues would be rewarded and could offset past mistakes.

Less than half an hour after the message was sent, Linda’s email was flooded with reports and complaints.

She didn’t bother to read them. She knew the individuals behind these reports and saw them as a way flush out hidden issues and gauge the company’s situation.

Everyone was selfish, looking to gain something for themselves. Linda was giving them a chance to be useful to her.

“Ms. Felix, do you have a moment?”

Linda looked up to see Lucy’s nephew, Johnny Depth, who was now the head of the procurement department.

It was well–known how lucrative the procurement position could be. It seemed that Lucy’s maternal family had fallen into significant misfortune if they had appointed their relative to such a position.
